Using DXM To potentiate Codeine Linctus

I have some bottles of 200ml Pure Codeine Linctus (600mg Codeine per bottle) Due to my tolerance I will find myself inevitably needing more to acheive the same results. I also have a bottle of 150ml Covonia Night Time Formula which contains 6.65mg Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide & Diphenhydramine Hydrdochloride 10mg per 5ml.

I have heard dosing upto 50-100mg Dextromethorphan (DXM) half an hour or so before the Codeine Linctus it will potentiates the Codeine Linctusdramatically.

Is this true? Is this safe? My only slight concern is the amount of antihistamine (Diphenhydramine) I may be ingesting upto 200mg Diphenhydramie which is not a lot at all really (I usually take 25-50mg for other Opiates)

Any tips and advice appreciated thanks.

From what I've gathered, DXM does not necessarily potentiate opiates, but can aid in slowing down a rapid tolerance.

DXM and codeine are both 2d6 substrates. It will inhibit conversion to morpine.

Yuck dxm to potentiate opiates for me resulted in throwing up. I think your better off taking a few benedryl's or hydroxyzine if you have those to try and potentiate. A whole bottle of 600mg codeine would have me throwing up for hours since i'm non tolerant.

I was convinced by so many opiate users that codeine is garbage etc, but i liked the feeling of them better than oxy's from tylenol 4's (60mg codeine/325mg apap) and after taking 4 one day i was very very high off the codeine and loved it of course i was non tolerant though.

Codeine also inhibits the metabolism of DXM (via 2D6) which must be metabolised to be active. I've used DXM (70 mg or so) to potentiate hydro and oxy. I found the experience to be more like a stimulant than a typical opiate high. It was OK I guess, just different. I can't use it anymore because I take not one but two antidepressants and since starting those I notice serotonin syndrome-like symptoms (shakiness and irritability) when using DXM, even at that low dose.

Codeine is a tough one to potentiate because many of the typical potentiators are CYP2D6 inhibitors (metabolizes codeine to morphine - codeine itself has very little opioid receptor activity)
