Using dhc to come off pods...

I have tried to taper off pods but I only dose once a day and by the 12 hour mark i am in agony. I want to get off this as soon as possible. I was thinking could I use dhc to replace pods for the 5 to 7 day withdrawal symptoms and not get hooked to dhc itself. Is dhc too similar to codeine which means it won't work by the end, and I will still be hooked to pods?

I have been on pods for 4 years and I find the pain excruciating. The worst symptom is the dysphoria/ malaise anxiety. If I use dhc for the WD Is it possible to not get HOOKED ON DHC. Sorry for caps and I'm worried that as codeine n morphine are similar dhc is the same just with an added molecule, so therefore it is not possible to come off pods with dhc.

As dhc n codeine are nearly identical will I still be addicted to codeine at the end of WD from the pods, it's like I'm coming off pods with help from codeine but this alkaloid is in the pods itself. This is my worry. Plus 5 days can't get you hooked to dhc right? Sorry for going on but I want to go out and buy the packs I need n get off this shit asap but I wanted confirmation of these two things as I do not want to waste my money.

You could use Dihydrocodeine (4,5-alpha-epoxy-3-methoxy-17-methyl-morphinan-6-ol) to wean yourself off of poppy pods, at least the first few days which are IMHO the most severe days of withdrawal. Please do note that most if not all DHC preparations contain APAP / Aspirin / Caffeine so you would be wise to do a Cold Water Extraction, look it up in the Other Drugs forum as there is the place where you can find a megathread on CWE IIRC.

DHC is about 3 times stronger than normal Codeine so 90 mg of Codeine = 30 mg of Dihydrocodeine = 9 mg of Morphine, it isn't much but it will help with the withdrawals since poppies contain mostly Codeine, Morphine and Thebaine. I'm not sure about DHC, but Codeine gets converted in the liver to Morphine so at the very least a high enough dose of DHC would get you well, not high. Also try adding a tiny amount compared what you normally would take from the poppy pods the help ease the withdrawals.

If you need more help I'm sure people on this forum are more than happy to help you out, also remember that 'kicking the habit' is also very much psychological so try to get that 'I can do it' additude right as a mindset, good luck! :)

Basically I cannot use dhc like I would use a Valium to ride out the WD for the five days. I would have to wean myself off the dhc of I replaced the pods with this.

I was taking just under half a pint of pods grounded once a day but was in agony on the twelve hour mark. Could you reccomend how much to take n how often.

DHC will relieve all WD symptoms if you take enough. Chances are it will prolong the WD length tho. Look into Loperamide, it's supposed to help opiate withdrawals very well in doses of 5-20mg.

How long? Because it's dhydro morphing I heard you will still be hooked on morphine and it will not work to come off them altogether. WHat do you think?
How much longer will WD last if o use dhc

The WD will reset and last the same amount of time after each dose, but the intensity will decrease. So basically, you'll go through two acute withdrawal phases if you take DHC for 3-5 days, youll have a milder WD while taking the DHC, and then another WD when you stop the DHC.

Everyone chooses to go about this process differently. Some prefer a shorter, intenser detox, while other people prefer and milder, extended detox.

In the end, you'll have to pay the piper.

Junk is junk and substituting one for another will only postpone the inevitable and may in fact make your withdrawal phase more protracted than it needs to be. The one positive that I can see in using dihydrocodeine in place of raw plant material like pods/seeds etc. is that you have the ability to more accurately titrate your dose. I would avoid loperamide unless you are in a situation which requires you to be not sick (work, the law), otherwise your tolerance will be raised more than the benefit you will receive.

IMHO DHC taken for like 5 to 7 days would not be that addictive physically if you use the least amount possible, and then you could use Loperamide (minimum of 12 mg a day would help a lot IME) or even Kratom, which is a natural source of Opiods and is often used to taper from stronger Opiods / Opiates. Try getting your hands on both some Loperamide and some Kratom, no kratom extracts if possible since they will increase your tolerance to Kratom rapidly, however Kratom tapering if very easy and you really should look it up (for example the Kratom mega thread in Other Drugs).

How many pods do you normally use daily? then you could possibly take less and less gradually every day and wean yourself off the pods that way, just my thoughts on the matter... :)

At the moment I'm tapering and I'm up to half a pint of grounded pods. How much kratom would I need and what's the extract? Is that powder or the leaves?
