using benzos to quit weed

the only situation id suggest this in, is if marijuana is your medicine for insomnia, and you need a month break to do a tolerance rest, althought i imagine the transition back to weed would be more stressful, then the transition to benzo's

remmeber, canabis is the least of all evils, with enough practice you can live perfectly high, compared to benzo's with their physical addiction,

cannabis is a dose dependatnt drug

Marijuana is not addictive.

I'm going to disagree with this. While Marijuana isn't physically addictive (although it can be slightly, I know it helps a lot of us, including me, eat and it's difficult sometimes without it to get even enough nutrition to get through the day), it can be extremely psychologically addictive. Benzos are physically and psychologically addictive...just wanted to clear this up, when people make pot seem all innocent and addiction free, it's just not the case realistically.

Just deal with the insomnia head on dude, I find if I man up and go through that it makes me think a bit more about the next time I light up. (from a few breaks throughout the years)

I Ended up takin diazapam to get to sleep every night for 3 weeks when I was a bit younger, luckily my source failed and I couldn't get them anymore so that got nipped in the bud.

Using benzos to kick weed would be like...using methamphetamines to kick caffeine-free diet coke.

EXACTLY.

Anyone with even minor drug knowledge should know how ridiculous this sounds!

Just stop smoking, keep yer mind busy. It's not like you need to wean off of pot, LOL.

If the problem is sleep, exercise, if you're just too lazy to do that, go buy some OTC sleep aids. Make sure shit like that works before you go off creating an ACTUAL addiction for yourself. Cuz having a REAL addiction is a REAL bitch.

^Benzos are addictive because they are physically addictive, and psychologically addictive. The chemical makeup of the medication makes them addictive and WD is a MOTHERFUCKER!

It's a bad idea... because benzo addiction SUCKS... the WD sucks worse.

If you wanna stop smoking weed just stop. If you wanna mess around with benzos, don't make it a habit!! You will regret it!

Amen! I agree totally. Been there, done that .... too many times.

Yes- it sounds reasonable

I would probably recommend staying away from benzo's, they are much more addictive than pot, and in high doses can make people aggressive, suicidal, and as impaired as if they are drunk.

If you feel you are hooked on weed, then you may have an extremely addictive personality, and thus benzodiazepines may pose a SERIOUS risk of misuse by you.

For a normal person, a low dose of temazepam for 5 or so days is not a big deal, but if you are CERTAIN you will strictly keep to the benzo's for just 5 days, and NOT take a single tablet your not supposed to, then yes I guess it would be okay and it could help (temporarily) with any insomnia.

Good luck, and be careful.

I'd approach this with the utmost of caution, as benzos are much worse than weed in terms of addiction potential (physically - not so much psychologically for most people).

Try to not need benzos to get to sleep after you stop smoking, and if you find that you're just not getting to sleep that first night or two, take the smallest dose that works (or, better yet "taper" with the weed - ie, on last day, just smoke right before you go to bed or something).

Z-drugs or hypnotic benzos can cause rebound effects within as little as a week of use as perscribed.

Got some zopiclone

I read some nasty stories about combining this stuff with alcohol :\ Blackouts and doing VERY stupid shit while your blacked out and not remembering anything...

Once i get rid of my stash i might try them...

P.S - I wish the doc would have given me temazepam or an actual benzo... Is it okay to ask them for a specific one or will he get suspicious

I also have a reason for not wanting to be on these. You are left with a strong bitter taste for atleast like 3 hours and makes water and food taste foul.

right, using benzos to quit weed. I seriously hope you mean 'using weed to quit benzos'..

You think weeds bad, just wait till you're convulsing and shaking from Benzo withdrawal.

The general consensus tells you it's a bad idea, with good reason :P

Personally, I've yet to quit weed (keep promising myself I'll do it at 30 :D) but we'll see.

Granted - It's human nature to replace one vice with another, but Benzos aint the way to go about it, unless you want to wake up sprawled over a park bench sporting a sore arse some time in the near future.

If you're gonna take the benzos for insomnia there are plenty of other things that will make you go to sleep that are nowhere near as addictive or risky as benzos.

Trazadone, ambien, lunesta, valerian, doxylamine, diphenhydramine, seroquel...

Benzos are a slippery slope, i suggest not fucking with them if you have t already

Using benzos to help you quit smoking weed is like taming a house cat with a lion. The withdrawals from weed are non-existent to mild and usually the symptoms will include a somewhat reduced appetite for a few days and you may have trouble falling asleep, especially if you relied on weed as a sleep aid. If you have trouble falling asleep taking a couple Benadryls should do the trick for a low-key insomnia caused by weed "withdrawals". Also, when you do fall asleep, I find that one nice little treat that you get from abstaining from weed is that you get wicked dreams. =D Most of the difficulty in quitting weed is psychological and involves boredom from not being stoned. If you find yourself thinking, "Man, I am super bored! I could really light up a bowl right now!", do something to occupy yourself. Go for a walk, read a book, etc. It's all about replacing one activity with another.

I never had the strange taste experience you speak about. But can attest to the fact that zopiclone frequently causes my mom blackouts, well not by itself always combined with alcohol. Many times I will speak to her about things at night and she will call me the next morning and tell me the same thing. And if I tell her, she gets a little embarrassed. (call it ambien amnesia)

If you have a fairly good relationship with your doctor, it can't hurt to ask. My doctor's been pretty reluctant to give me benzos cos I'm also taking vicodin. But he used to give me xanax, he made sure he tapered me down proper too, after a period of nearly a year. He said it's not good for long term usage and didn't want me getting a habit.
