Used van came with $500K of cocaine
A California man got a lot more than he expected when he purchased a used minivan last year.

When Charles Preston purchased a used Chrysler minivan for $14,000 in May 2010, he thought he was getting a pretty good deal. The 2008 vehicle was in pristine condition and had power steering, foldaway seats and tinted windows. So what if the windows wouldn't roll down all the way?

The van came with one extra Preston hadn't asked for -- half a million dollars' worth of cocaine, hidden inside the frame.

Preston discovered the cellophane-wrapped packages of cocaine -- the drugs were the reason the windows weren't working -- when he took the van to have its brakes checked in August, the Mercury News reported on Sunday. The San Jose, Calif., psychologist immediately reported the find to police, who told him to have the van checked for a tracking device, and then get rid of it.

It sounds like a dream come true, then you realize some very hard very pissed-off people might be looking for it... hell, I'd've taken a kilo or two, then called the cops :)

So he gets advised to get rid of the van, check for tracking devices, etc... and then his name and location get written all over the media?

lol for real, but the cops have the coke now so its not like he still has it.

That would be the best possible car purchase ever.
I've heard so many stories like this that I'm going to be going through the next used car I buy looking for a bonus...

this guy handled this like an idiot.
he should have taken several kilos. like maybe 10-ish. then called the cops and returned the car, and asked for complete anonymity and to be treated as a media source. I wonder how long it will be until this guy turns up dead just because he called the cops and now the coke dealers will never get their shit back.

^Yeah cause I'm sure a psychologist is interested in switching professions to coke dealer, or maybe just spending the next ten years hollowing out his nasal cavities.

There was another article similar to this a while back and the responses were similar. Most people aren't interested in possessing a felony quantity of coke, even though many here fantasize about it.

Also, we don't know that he didn't take a few kilos then call the cops. Always possible.

It would have been very, very difficult not to call the cops in front of the car repair person.
What would you say - "Um, could you please put all that cocaine that you just took out of my car into bags, or directly into my trunk, so I can take it home? I promise to call the cops!" 8)

But how do you know what kind of life this person has lived?

What if they had lost a friend from cocaine, or watched a friend get highly addicted and ruin their life?
You dont know someones background,

If this guy is a psychologist, perhaps he enjoys hes job and perhaps he has a happy life?
So even using some himself could cause him problems and disrupt hes life,

You just dont know the full story,
But there are some reasons why this guy simply called the cops

This guy had no problem with it

OT: I think cocaine should be utilized during psychotherapy sessions, by practitioner and patient. I'm never as candid and lucid as I am on good coke, or crack. For this I think it beats even MDMA, which causes me to be overly gooey.

Interesting, I've found that coke gives me mood swings and in general makes my disposition pretty weird, and I've seen a lot of other people like that (people on coke can often go from happy to angry about nothing real quick). I can see where you're coming from though, I think amphetamine might work better than coke, at least for me. Everyone's different I guess.

How much coke should they do? Do you think the patient and therapist should do it together, like snort a few lines at the beginning of a session? Wouldn't all therapists end up being coke heads? The idea of a coked up therapy session is funny to me, although I can see how it could totally work well.

Freud did love him some coke.

^I'm not entirely serious about it, but coke helps me cut through my personal bullshit very quickly. Without guidance, without wanting to do or learn anything profound, I'll start snorting with a group of people and within minutes I've divulged everything about myself, even things I didn't know I knew.

If the guy bought the van in May 2010 and it's now November 2011, then why would he need to worry about a tracking device?

Time to start used van shopping.
hahahaha, very well done but damn, everytime i hear about a story like this one, or someone finding a shitload of prescription pills i just wonder why it can never be me. in this situation though, i would've only taken a few kilos and done something about it most likely. depending on who this was acquired from, i could've been concerned for my safety.

^I would've taken some of the coke for myself and then taken the rest and thrown it to a coke head for like 10 dollars. Or maybe even just throw the bricks out a window driving by a crack spot.
