US Pledges More money to Fight Drug Cartels (in Cental America)

Looks like a revival of the death squads of the 80s (a la Guatemala and El Salvadore).

GUATEMALA CITY -- The Obama administration pledged Wednesday to increase its investment in Central Americas security to nearly $300 million this year to thwart the expanding activities of drugs cartels threatening to destabilize the entire region.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton announced the release of new funds at a meeting of 12 regional countries and donor nations. Some of the money was previously allotted or is being repackaged from other programs, but the total figure represents a more than 10 percent jump from last year's aid of $260 million, U.S. officials said.

"We know the statistics – the murder rates surpassing civil war levels," Clinton said.

The gathering in Guatemala's capital aims to find a coordinated strategy to fight the growing threat posed by the cartels. Altogether donors pledged close to $1 billion.

What about our national debt and paying it down. Pull out of afghanistan and redeploy to central America. As a previous OP's thread discussed setting up bases in central america- this seems to be a prelude. When's this stupid fucking war gonna end?

How bout cutting taxes or if your gonna spen our money heal the sick, feed the poor rather than giving it to mdeath squads- who will probaly use it to knock off the enemy of the highest bidding cartel.

Nah the federal reserve will just keep printing $

It's all part of the globalist world banker elites' scheme to feed their illegal enterprises like DynCorp and imprison people in private prisons, fight illegal wars in the middle east, etc, under the UN/NATO guise. These companies profit at the cost to the American taxpayer and anyone who holds US dollar currency. The

US is basically going down the shithole and all people care about is celebrity gossip and other meaningless bullshit. Makes me wanna go smoke some weed and hope more people wake up to how much society at large is being sodomized by the banks.. How much US commonwealth is being sucked away and hoarded in offshore bank accounts. Until more people care, it's going to get worse and worse. I see a bad pattern of politics which is testing how far it can push its people before they push back... (or even start to notice :?)

The idea of border security = cracking down on illegal smuggling that is not helped by the CIA/Feds, driving up prices, giving criminals in government ultimate control over the illegal drug industry. This is very corrupt and is purely sickening honestly.

That extra 40 million we're throwing them should go towards education, health care, etc. Hell, all 300 million should go towards them. The number of schools having to close is ridiculous. Investing in education should be a huge priority in this country. Why do we keep giving away money we don't have? It makes no fucking sense. How can our leaders think it will do more good to throw money away fighting losing battles...Ugh.

100% agree with everything stated above. Only way we will ever take back our country from these eltist groups is a revolution baby. Remember the 60's & 70's where people were protesting. Unfortunately we will never see this again because our youth is worried about their ipods & playstations. The youth of america is being totally brain washed while we sit back & do nothing, grr............
 
remove 100% of the current/future US-munitions and it would barely make a dent in this war (they have such strong trafficking routes into their country, and such cozy alliances w/ the military, that their weapons-needs will be met. perhaps a tad more expensive in some cases, but certainly nothing they'd be concerned with. the whole fast/furious debacle has made people think w/o us-weapons this wouldn't be playing out as it is :| )
 
Removing all US weapons wouldn't end the conflict, black market and legally purchased weapons are always going to be available, but it doesn't make sense to provide munitions, money and training to the Mexican military when corruption runs so deep.

Of course it does, to our CIA & government that is some how making billions off these deals behind closed doors.
