Opioids Urinating on opiates

Im just wondering if other people has this same problem. If I take a moderate to large dose of oxy, I cant seem to urinate for the life of me. It take a good 10-15 mins before I force anything out. What is it about opiates that causes this? Also, is there anyway to help with this?
 
It's caused by desensitisation of your bladder, along with increased sphincter tone and decreased urethral tone, and is very common - it's a known side effect, as tricomb says.

I have a series of tricks I use:

  • Sit down!
  • Run a tap - just listening may be enough, or you can try running warm water on your wrists
  • Distract yourself - I try sending a text, reading something or doing maths in my head haha
  • If it is really bad you can try getting in a warm shower or bath
  • If it's not happening then go do something else for a bit and come back later..
 
This is a common side effect from opiate use. Urinary retention I think it's called. You'll notice that in bad withdrawals you'll barely be able to hold your piss and when you do piss your like wtf its only like 2 ounces. In contrast to being high on dope and coke I will piss out a fuckin 20 ounce lol and hold it forever.

But yeah if your real high on opiates you will stand over the toilet trying hard as fuck to piss and you might not be successful lol. Ive had that happen to me so many times.
 
Yeah, as mentioned it's a very common side effect, especially if you don't have a habit. When I first started dabbling in Opiates, I found the best solution was to run some tap water, close my eyes and relax. Think of the ocean, or anything relaxing.

P.S. - Every time I read the thread title, I imagine somebody pissing on a bunch of Oxy's ;)
 
I get this a lot, and it really pisses me off when I'm trying to sleep and I constantly feel like I have to piss, but every time I get up to try nothing happens.

One thing I do is rotate trying it sitting down, then standing up every couple minutes or so

Yeah, urinary retention's a very common problem with opiates. Sitting down is a good suggestion, as leaning forward even slightly puts pressure on your bladder. If you can't pee, don't try to force it out, I'm not sure if it can cause damage to the urinary tract...

Caffeine is a great diuretic if it's a major problem.
 
It's pretty bad for me. I just started on methadone, and I'm on 30mg a day. Didn't really have this problem this bad since I first started shooting dope, but now I have to lean with my head up against the wall so I make this shape

Then pray I can go. It's really pretty damn bad right now.
 
its normal.. i also like to urinate on my opiate lol..
but on a serious note:
i always count by threes or odd numbers (in my head) to distract myself while the tap is running ever so slightly.. works for me almost every time.. i need to do it sober sometimes too because i have a shy bladder.. which sucks in public restrooms. sitting also helps which i believe was already said since it puts pressure on the bladder.
 
The most useful trick i've found, as i suffer severely from urinary retention is the following, though it only works if you are a male:

Spit on your palm, and rub the head of your penis. For some reason this works like a charm for me, and others i know. Obviously, do this in a stall if you're using a public restroom.

LOL interesting find. Might have to experiment with that one. I also get really bad urinary retention. I never really noticed it until I took opanas or awhile. I would get the urge to go and get there and be like >______> hurry up!
On a side note someone said when they withdrawal they have to piss more, I'm the same way. Every 15 minutes like clockwork lol
 
ive heard opiates affect the bodys' control of the "valve" that allows the urine to come out of your body..... something like that... or maybe it was that opiates affect the prostate? It does something to make you unable to pee and your not alone, i'm affected by this too.

I am not sure but I think the neck of the bladder plays a part in urinary retentin.
