Bupe URGERNT!!! ..question about suboxone

ok so im on suboxone maintenance... and i really havent used any opies but i drank last night... anyways i woke up and started vomitting everywhere... is it just strictly the bupe that is making me nasious or is cuz i drank on bupe?? .. (and i know its not just an ordinary stomach virus) cuz im not sick .. its just something triggered it.

You should be very very careful not to mix ethanol with buprenorphine, alcohol and opioids are a very very dangerous mix.

If you have been on bupe for a while and haven't recently changed your dose, and you don't normally get nausea from it, then I would guess it is the alcohol. Alcohol and bupe opioids are not a good mix for a number of reasons. They can increase each other's affects, including the risk of overdose, and with some opioids alcohol will actually make them wear off sooner (putting you into withdrawal sooner). But how do you know it isn't a hangover or a stomach virus?

I'm no expert, but my guess would be that the alcohol potentiated the bupe. That's just my guess.

It's probably because alcohol is a poison; and just the thought of consuming any amount of alcohol while on suboxone or buprenorphine is revoltingly nauseating.

Like oil and vinegar, the two don't mix.

You really, really don't want to drink while on bupe. It's extremely dangerous. As one poster (I think it was tricomb ) wisely said in another thread "One drink you fall down drunk. Two drinks you fall down dead". There's a case of a girl that took something like 1-2 mg of bupe, 5 mg of diazepam and drank one beer and ended up dead. Yes, there are other factors in this case such as the concomitant usage of diazepam and that the girl was opioid naive, but reading between the lines, you can see how easy it is to end up in a potentially fatal situation while drinking on bupe.

I agree it's dangerous...but I've done it many of times. Never with serious side effects. Xanax as well. But i'd never mix all 3..that's for sure.

But I also have serious opiate tolerance and xanax as well.

Yes, many people will survive from this combo, but some don't, you can never be too careful
