(URGENT)- My dog ate chicken bones, please advise!!!

Thank you a lot, great response :))
and damn, I never heard of it being *good*/reco'd!!
/since we've breached the feces-barrier here, lemme ask - what would the bone have come out like? I never found *anything* solid, but he had hard lumps that were irregular, I presumed they were digested bone, but it seemed way more digested than I'd have presumed.

Yep, raw chicken bones are quite soft and the stomach acids and intestines of a healthy dog are quite capable of digesting uncooked bones almost completely! Pretty cool huh :)
It depends on how much they chew the bone at the beginning as well. If they only give it a few big chomps and then swallow it (quite common for large dogs to do), it might be a bit less digested at the end. But if they sit there munching on it for like 5 minutes or so, it'll be pretty well digested.

The cooked/uncooked rule applies to other types of bones as well. Although larger dogs can often quite safely get through, say for example, a cooked lamb shank bone or something like that, without incurring any issues. But I personally think it's just safer to give dogs UNcooked bones, and throw any cooked bones in the trash.

Meh, big deal. Survival of the fittest.

I trust my dog not to do some dumb shit, and if it does, to suffer the consequences. People are way too overprotective and full of fear. Conditioned so, I'd say.

^^ Don't mind him Sanger, us loving responsible pet owners are evidently a different breed ;)

I can see the point tho - I just see it as a difference on perspective more than anything. Sometimes it's hard to justify spending $$ on pets while humans are suffering, but getting into any of that is really a wholly different topic. I see it as: determine what you think is appropriate/fair, and stick to it. That's how I like to operate w/, well, most anything! If I wanted I could spend obscene $ on my dog to have his blood checked weekly, his feces analyzed by a lab, but that's beyond my idea of what he 'deserves' so to speak. However, things like helping his rashes, fleas, giving him good food, helping him if he got into something he shouldn't have, those are all things I'll do w/o hesitation yknow?
((I hope that doesn't make me come across as uncaring - I'm actually an animal nut, actually my saltwater tanks were some of the only I'd ever seen in a private residence that I wouldn't call "cruel", and that's just fish/corals. Alternatively, I'm fully aware that some treat their pets as people, which is just wrong, well IMO anyways - IMO, animals<humans, but once again that's an entirely different topic!))

humans = dogs, life = life, it's all the same to me

if anything it's a lot easier to dismiss humans cuz they should know better. animals are innocent. just tryna eat.

I'm kinda confused, I thought you were coming from the opposite end ('let life happen, if he chokes he chokes').

/and you cannot honestly believe that can you?? If you were in the middle of the desert and found a man dying of thirst next to a wilted plant, w/ a sip of water between you and them, you'd water the plant and watch him die?

Difference on perspective = relative values of lives

"You cannot honestly believe that can you??" = your claim of non-human life > human-life.

Yes, I type quick - odd for you to mention considering half the threads on my userCP are being hit w/ replies from you, so I'm gonna have to presume you're just as quick ;P

Sanger don't even bother with him, he's just trolling you. Not worth your time and effort :)
