Urgent help needed. Dexamphetmine, Tramadol and depression.

Hi all.

Please excuse the brief and hurried question. I am suffering a terrible depressive episode. I took dexamphetamine yesterday (around 20mg at most spaced out across the day.) The last pill was taken 24 hours ago.

I have tramadol in the house, which helps me miraculously for depression, but I am concerned about seizures because of the recent amphetamine use. Is 24 hours long enough after the amp to take a dose of tramadol and be safe from seizures? I am pretty desperate as I am edging on suicidal.

I also have some xanax (which I've taken 4 days in a row now, which worries me because of possible dependence.) Not sure if that has useful anticonvulsant properties which might protect me when taking tramadol?
 
What's your normal dose of tramadol? Perhaps consider taking less than normal. Taking a pinch of xanax too may be helpful, both for potential anticonvulsant effects and for psychological aspect (don't wanna spend all your time worrying about having seizures and whether you should have taken it or not =D).

What have you been using the xanax for? You probably won't get physicals for less than a week of use, but if you've been using it to alleviate anxiety or to get to sleep may notice a slight rebound effect.
 
Thanks for the reply. I've been using Xanax to tame an intense depressive/anxious period brought on by a violent relationship breakdown. I'm prescribed the dex.

I know from past experiences that tramadol lifts me out of the worst almost immediately. But I don't want to have a seizure. I've taken at most 200mg at once before, during other episodes of depression. I'm desperate so might just risk it and if I die then so be it I suppose.
 
Start with 50mg or so in that case. Generally seizure threshold with tramadol is >3-400mg, but I advise staying as far away from this as you can.
 
Tramadol is only going to increase your depression. The euphoria you feel from it is temporary and will give you the sense of feeling "better". However the next day you will feel more depression/anxiety than had you NOT taken the Tramadol. This pretty much goes for all opiates.

I have depression/anxiety and won't lie, I took 50mg of oxy today and 1mg Kpin today. I also get Trams too and I always take Kpins with them since Kpins lower the seizure threshold.

The dex is also going to worsen your depression/anxeity.

Is it your love life that has you taking all these pills? IMO if you are having a really bad time, stick to the Xanax and leave the rest. Even then the Xanax is a temporary blanket.

Please consider seeking professional help. When I read " I'm desperate so might just risk it and if I die then so be it I suppose." I can't help but be concerned for your well being.
 
It's nearing 48 hours since I last took amphetamine now. Am I in the clear to take tramadol?
 
You are taking two drugs that are going to make your issues worse. Stick with the Xanax and/or seeking professional help. Dex will end up making you a lil manic and Tramadol will make you more depressed over time...

For me Tramadol lifts depression miraculously. I only take it in emergencies. This is one. And I am seeking help.

The crucial thing is whether 48 hours without taking dexamphetamine is enough to avoid a seizure caused by combining with tramadol. Does anyone know?
