I've been taking lots of magnesium supplements ever since quitting benzos and opiates two years ago. I use magnesium instead of the benzos basically + to help with my central sensitization syndrome/allodynia. So during two years I've worked up some kind of tolerance. I now take 2250-5000mg magnesium glycinate daily and think it helps with my cramps/neuropathic pain and sleeping problems. Especially if combined with other NMDA antagonists.
Anyway, most info on the internet (and the bottle of magnesium) says 450mg daily is the upper tolerable limit. However, I feel perfectly fine and all my electrolytes are normal. I just wonder if I can keep taking these amounts of magnesium without worrying about getting side effects in the future such as electrolyte disturbance.
