Mr Blonde
Bluelighter
We chased the sun across the sky
Until it set
Then when dawn broke
We chased all day again
Then at night the clouds rolled in
The sky fell dark
The wind rose up and chased us
Chased us all away
The people passing by didn't care to know
Who we where
They shot us dirty looks
And went on their way
We got lost in the city on the busy streets
Without a map
Til two soldiers called
To shoot away the day
The morphine twilight was so dark
To my eyes
Tired and narrow
Hunger that can't be slayed
So a soldier lit a candle and
Held a spoon
Held it to the lips
Of the steel blade
For a moment he seemed happy
With a smile full of contentment
And smoke blowing from his mouth
Then it slowed and then subsided
And left us all so lonely
With a hopeless desperation
With a heavy burden
Strapped across my back
No turning back
The story tells itself is all
I have to say
We don't dream of escape
We just get by
We panhandled across the city
Got a couple of dimes
Well that set us up for a night
Of wasting time
I remember nodding off and
I couldn't breathe
But still fell asleep
And woke up alive
I heard a sound and walked down
The hall
Where they stood around
Where the soldier had just died
So we left the place and hit
The street
Worked to make some cash
Find somewhere to stay
And I know that silently we
All prayed
That the life wouldn't catch up
On one of us today
For a moment I felt happy
With a smile full of contentment
Then I blew the smoke from my mouth
And it slowed and then subsided
And I looked out the window
Across the glowing sky
The burden felt so heavy
And I felt like I could cry
So I burned the silver spoon
And I loaded up the sword
And the pain just dissipated
And everything just faded
Everything just faded away.
* Untitled isn't some meta thing or nothing, it's just I haven't got a title for this yet... anyone got any ideas? I might turn this into a song as well.
