It seems that we are approached in life by one universal truth, and one universal truth only, and that is that the universe is universal in its totality, all encompassing in its infinite being, bounded by nothing, but bounding everything. It will not roll up, it is the rolling up. All its parts, its galaxies, its planets, its cosmos, are expressions of the will of the whole, the will of the whole in the sense that there can be no exterior will. No other aspect that can impose rules, laws, or definitions upon it. In being a single unified whole it ultimately moves with unity in purpose; its very functions are but expressions of its power, which is limited only to that which becomes possible on its own terms. We can not expect it to have a beginning, nor an end; in existing infinitely it transcends time, transcends reason and transcends logic in its reality. Such are simple explanations for those within, those marking and taking note of its attributes, its characteristics, its expressions.
It is neither absurd, nor indifferent, nor meaningful, nor meaningless, it simply exists and will continue to do so regardless of whether or not we elect its presence, whether or not we choose to believe. We are in a sense trapped in its eternal oneness, forever destined to try to forge our own meanings separate from its infinite whole. Only to fade away into the expression of its eternal presence. To build upon its surface, to live upon its life, it is in this sense and this sense only that we are free. But how do we will, how do we know that which we seek? We can only know, and we can only seek that which is contained within, that which can ultimately be extracted from the very essence of our beings, for all realities contained within a central reality contain the same essential principle; the determining, structuring boundless principle of universal existence. Any awareness will result from and lead to the unity of the whole, or an expression of the ways through which the universal harmony exists. In the sense of its eternal compassionless, blank expression which contains the greatest beauty, and the most horrible of evils. There is evidence of design but ignorance is contained within it as much as intelligence, for it is the source for all potentialities, and indeed, the very potentialities themselves. As we see it contains good so we see it contains evil, as we see it contains pleasure also it contains pain. We see that one is the other, and the other is one. The all encompassing whole that threatens to define us by the universal standard of existence; that threatens to push all notions of being onto us, denying us any essential essence. Any beginning principle beyond that of its original and centripetal force.
As much as we are bound to ourselves we are bound to each other. Such is the nature of our cosmic struggle, to be denied our heritage; to be denied our heritage through the denial of any independent existence: we ultimately have no heritage separate from its influence. Our very notion of history is the expression of its being. Not the unfolding of its being for it already is, always has, and always will be. Instead it is the gradual occurrence of its multiplicity of potentials as they appear by chance, devoid of any notion of free will, any guiding softening principle. For will is not free, but comes at the price of our understanding, the awareness of our imprisonment which is in itself a concession. A scrap of the table, an inconsequential morsel fallen from the fork of time, that as it falls grows and suffocates all beneath its shadow. We can know what is known and no more. There is nothing we can think that can’t be thought. Nothing that we can do that can’t be done, nothing that occurs which does not have prior approval, previous occurrence and future occurrence. The consequences of which extend beyond the limits of our being as estranged interdependent units that try to create their own potentials but serve ultimately as mere expressions, mere wheels in the mechanical process of universal existence. The condition for our alienation is the universal condition for our happiness. The supreme, determining, meaningless principle of being. Forces we understand are at work, and they are beyond control. Forces inclusive of the principle of control, which exists within the limits of the principle of being and defines it. As does an infinite number of other such concepts within any language any combination of speech, of meaning, without meaning or contained within an eternal meaning that has no beginning and extends.
It is then very possible that our escape is contained within our imprisonment. For if the eternal chain of interdependence extends then it will extend to the meaning we seek to find. Meaning being indifferent and hollow which can be moulded. We ourselves can mould, and do. For the very principle of escape is ultimately held within the being which exists… Can we no longer exist? Is nonexistence possible? All possibilities and impossibilities alike, become possible through their ability to be considered and reflected upon. So is there then the possibility of existing outside the realm of improbability, of existing in a sense by our own determination? Beyond that which is, in so far as we can tell, contained within a realm with which we cannot identify because it is by its nature as evil as it is good?
