And she abandons all good sense,
clamps and claws down on need.
Toes chance sand, waters lap at them,
whispering warnings to her through the foam.

Thirsty, she goes forward, against it's voice of caution,
waist deep now and utterly vulnerable,
courageous or naive, daring the undertow.

Clock is tic, tic, ticking down.

Just don't stand wide-eyed,
mouth agape,
when it rises up in instinct
and devours you, dear.

the interplay of two characters is both subtle and curious. the last line is great :) nice piece
 
My only qualm is that the piece is not longer, as I was enjoying getting drawn in.
But when the underlying can be presented so consisely I guess there is no need!
