I have been a recreational user of opiates for around a year and a half, I have done everything from smoking OC, to shooting Heroin, everything in between i realized i was getting a bit out of control when i started smoking Heroin, I realized it just soon enough to stop it, even after a 2-3 week heroin habit(smoking atleast once everyday usually a half gram).

Luckily i have or id like to think i have the brain power as i havent done an opiate in around 2 weeks, the first week was the hardest, Sleeplessness, Restless Lymbs, just missery. How long does one take to completly Detox, meaning how long will i have trouble sleeping? How long will my body not feel back into swoop, Since ive stopped ive lost almost 30 pounds ive started eating healthier etc etc.

Also how long would i need to not touch an opiate before my tolerance dropped back to what it used to be. back when i first started i could half a oxy 30 and be chill for a while now i can take 2 oxy 30's and just be High.

Although i do not regret trying opiates i do want to make sure that i will remain in control. Thank you Bluelight!

Usually, depending on the severity of your habit, it takes about 4 days to completely detox and be finished with the PHYSICAL WD symptoms. But again, if you have a very serious habit, physical WD's could last more like 5-6 days, even a week. They will be most intense for the first three days.

In terms of tolerance, it takes extremely long for you tolerance to drop to half or 1/4 of what it was at the height of your usage. Honestly, some people say that your tolerance will never ever be back to what it was before you had never used an opiate. Id say if you wanted your tolerance to get back to getting high off of half a 30 from getting high off of 60 milligrams would take at least 3-5 months of not using AT ALL. It certainly will take longer than three months, my guess would be like half a year of not using at all.

Ive not used one milligram of an opiate for 2 months at a time and my tolerance had barely dropped (i got high off of 30 mg instead of 40) after not using once for 2 months.

Hope this answered your questions.

I'll also add that PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome) can last for months. The shorter the time on opioids and the healthier you live after cessation the short the PAWS but it can still take a little while.

Regarding tolerance mcgrCONTIN makes some good poitns about how long it takes to drop down. Even if it drops down faster than that though the main thing is if you use again it will rise up much quicker than it would for someone who is opiate naive.

Exactly what amapola said, and also what ive noticed that taking suboxone or bupe raises your tolerance for opes like H and OC considerably. Been makeing WD's worse also.

Just wanted to add i accidentally put myself into prercipitated withdrawal today...and I would describe it as the exact opposite effect of taking like 2 really good ecstasy pills.Took one bag of china white (nsorted) an 8 30 AM, took a sub at 9 PM right before I took a shower, and got out of the shower and had so much worse muscle pain i couldnt even dry myself off. It sucks. Dont do it
