Some of his solos are just sick. Maybe overrated because people think he wrote the majority of the guitars, when Hetfield did that.

hah. I hate trying to be a music know-it-all with no knowledge music theory, ect. Trying to describe music to an actual musician can be downright embarassing for me.

I did take "intro to electronic music" in undergrad to fill a fine arts requirement, so suck on that. I learned how to get blazed and watch my ex-hippie prof bug out on some really weird midi percussion devices and old- skool synths from the 70's. =D

Firstly, and I mean no offence, but stop with the typed ghetto slang it's fucking hard to read sometimes. While I agree that Rap is sometimes looked down upon, but with people like 50cent out there writing lyrics like "I'll take you to the candy shop, I'll let you lick the lollypop" and then getting praised for it. Rap has got to stop focussing on objectying women, material welth and popping caps in peoples asses. If the credible artists weren't smothered by these wannabe thug morons rap would have a better image. Q-tip we need you.
Also Jim Morrison was a spiritual and visionary pioneer, the reason people idolize him so much is because he managed to infuse his music with meaning and emotion, unlike some bling bling rapper bullshit. If you can't appreciate the genius of the Lizard King there is no hope for you, try reading some Blake and some Ginsberg, and it might help. Mind you from your previous post's I get the feeling you don't listen to the doors and Jim morrison was just an example you used, but don't insult him even in ignorance, he was a genius the like of which we may never see again.
RIP Jim Morrison.
 
If i get blackout drunk and then go up on stage and scream about pussy then pass out, am i a genius? I give the guy credit where credit is due....but I think veneration of him as a saint is hardly appropriate. If anything, he was pretentious and self important. His poetry sounds like it was written by some brooding adolescent between algebra class and B lunch.
 
No way is Jim Morrison over-rated.....sure he may of been a drunk ass mutherfucker and i will admit he was no way near the best voice coming out of an era full of wicked singers, but that was not what Morisson was about...... he had style and more importantly he had fucken SOUL.......he was a prophet, i don't care what anyone else says, his lyrics were visionary, transending and revolutionary

I whole heartedly agree you Eltoro...... and i for one am fed up with all the pseduo-gangsta tryhard bitch ass hip hop rap shit that engulfs the airways........ i don't care what music people get into, if they have a passion for it i reckon thats great, but when people start putting LEGENDS like Jim Morrison down and say that some phat - ass loving black gangsta rapper are more important in the context of pathing the way for improvement in musical genres, it is a disgrace.
