Undercover Cops in Clubs?

I was wondering if others could share similar experiences to this one I had a few weeks ago.

With some mates, all pilling at a club in the town which I live in here in Australia. Right at the end of the night, about 15 minutes before close I bought a mate a drink and we were sitting there just chilling when a dude who looked like he definitely didn't belong in a nightclub by manner of his dress, more suited to an over 40's pub, sat down next to me and started asking all these questions:

[dude] "Hey, can I ask you a really way out question?"

[me] "Yeah sure, go for it"

"I mean, it's a really way out there question'

"Hmm, ok ask away"

"It's really out there"

"OK......"

"Well, my finance and I were wondering...." (here I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting invited into a threesome - urgh) ".....if you knew where we could get some pills from"

*laugh* "Man, that's not an out there question. Not now though, too late"

"Why too late?"

"Cause there aren't a lot of people around"

"Why does it matter when people are around?"

"Cause it's easier to get pills"

"Why is it easier?"
(by now I'm starting to really twig that this dude is pretty suss)

"Cause there's more people about to ask"

"Oh, so who do you ask?"

"Just people"

"Which people?"

"Anyone I guess"

"So you just ask?"

"Yeah"

"Where do you live?"

"Well, originally from Western Australia"

"How long have you been in Tassie for?"

"Oh, a while" (been here about 13 years)

Then without another word he gets up and walks out the front door by himself, no finace. And no, he wouldn't have just walked in to talk to someone and then leave her standing outside as they had stopped letting anyone in an hour and a half prior.

That's the first time I've had someone just ask me all these questions like that in a club and then walk away, I'd put money on the fact he was undercover. Anyone else had anything similar happen?

Maybe hes like every other mid40's guy having a midlife crisis and has started going out more often and wants to try this drug 'ecstasy'...and has obviously no idea how to get it..i always see the older guys at raves tweaked hard...pretty funny.

That's a possibility I never thought of. You could be right there.

Really though you would have been fine, as long as you did not directly sell the drugs, just told him who to go to. I mean they could give you the whole "guilty by association" bullshit, but then again, what are they going to do, arrest everyone at the club?

That sounds almost IDENTICAL to the way some friends of mine were approached once in a club... we're in Australia too...

They were in one of those 'recovery' clubs that stays open til mid-morning and a "couple" asked them if they had any pills, or if they knew where they could get any... and after my friends said no on a number of occasions to their answers I think they started to get a bit cheesed off with the questioning... and the "couple" then just walked off...

The way you described their age, the way they announced themselves as being engaged, etc etc... is like an exact copy of what happened to them...

not trying to start anything, but this pisses me off all the time. i have been turned down by people that i know for sure (others have told me, or i've seen them dealing) were selling drugs at clubs because as soon as i ask them, they look at me from head to toe and assume i am a narc. i thought dressing how you want was "cool" but i guess it means you aren't cool.

Good point, and I'm sure everyone understands that. However, when you are risking years in prision, sterotypes could/should be used as judgement as who to sell too.

yeh same thing happen to me last weekend...does any1 ever get busted? i mean, how obvious is it that these guys are u.c.

even when ur rollin balls u can spot them a mile away.
i always have a good laugh when i do see them trying to mingle with the crowd...its just halirious to watch. they must feel so fucking stupid.
but hey, its their job, cant blame a cop for trying=D

I'm one of the 40 and over guys that loves to roll and goes to the clubs where most people are in their 20's. One time someone asked me if I was a cop. I started laughing, they walked away. About an hour later then same guy comes up to me while I am on the dance floor and says I guess you are not. I was glow stringing at the time and completly floored. Over the last few years, I've met and hang with a crowd where the avg. age is 24. They have brought me into their click and everything is everything. I like to roll, and I love to dance. It's all about having fun.

to me that doesnt necessarily suggest they were undercover cops, but i cud b wrong
cops would be more likely to go in and sell the stuff to you - theyre wasting time asking randoms where to get pills, i mean is anyone dumb enough to sell drugs to ppl theyve never met that obviously arent actually pillheads themselves? and even if u did refer them to a dealer, unless they cud prove u were dealing pills as well, or had bought pills that night, they got nothing on you....

yeah, i mean i never have dealt drugs but mainly because i don't want to have to deal with distinguishing a real customer from a fake one. after reading all of the posts on bluelight about actually being able to identify an undercover it became apparent that it's pretty impossible to know for sure.

i wasn't trying to say that before though, just saying how much i hate being turned away because i wear khaki's and polos to raves. never ruins my night, just annoying :)

More than likely it was just some dude trying to roll, and he didn't have a hookup. Don't stress it.

And as far as stereotypes go, you damn well BETTER base your decisions on them if you're gonna deal... jail ain't fun! Sorry. It sucks, I know, but for gods sake, if you look like a square (and there's nothing wrong with that, dressing how you like to dress *is* cool), get a friend to buy for you.

I can't speak for dealers, but if I were being approached by enough young people with double-zero gauge piercings in their earlobes, I wouldn't bother with the nice gentleman who sort of reminds me of a cop...

I had a real close 'dropping partner' who was in his 40s... and he'd mingle with everybody regardless of age... I'm in my late 20s and even now, my group of friends ranges from people who have only just turned 18 to even one dude who's in his 50s! The average age I guess of people I take drugs with would be in their early-late 30s now...

Nobody ever looks upon them as if they might be undercover... I guess because they look like they're having too much fun to be serious about anything :)

This one time at a club a bunch of us were off our heads and there was this one really young guy dressed in dark clothes and a long dark duffle coat who kept walking from one corner of the club to the other and he kept looking over at us staring... and then (probably because we were getting paranoid) it looked like he was talking into his shoulder...

Right at the end of the night he was standing at the exit, watching us... we thought that was it, we were gonna get caught (even though the most somebody would have had on them was a small pipe for weed) so we all tried to devise a plan on how to walk out without looking like we were making a run for it... :P

Turns out in the end, he was somebody who posted on a dance music forum with all of us and we'd never met him... he was just young and is VERY shy and awkward when it comes to approaching people. He knew that we were posters on the forum but obviously didn't have the confidence to just say hi... the poor fella knew we had thought he was undercover and were shit scared of him... :)

Please don't feed the trolls!

I'm a musician dude; right now I'm getting ready to see some mates play in their band whilst hanging out with one of my bands (bass players get a lot of gigs ;) ) at the local pub in town. Currently listening to Pendulum's Out Here, who incidently I'm gonna go see down in Hobart this week. Fucken stoked :D

I've been around people in their 50's and danced with them at bush-doofs they have during the winter here (everyone gets on the psychs) and they're old hippies out to have fun - and that they do, awesome people. This dude was nothing like that at all, and I consider myself to be a pretty good judge of character.

I wouldn't have told them who to go to unless they were a trusted friend my mate knows.

I highly doubt the cops would actually sell someone drugs only to bust them. That's the same as planting evidence, only worse cause they're also trafficking narcotics.

the clubs i go to you can't even hear yer self talk...go to cooler clubs.

and don't worry about cops, its gona be random randomness.

regardless of how old someone is, how they look or how they're dressed, the possibility of someone being UC is always there. when i was 16, i heard people say they thought i was anywhere from 8-14 so it goes to show that you never know.

for this reason, i didn't and won't ever purchase anything from anyone at a rave or club (it was always someone else that bought our shit if we needed it). call me paranoid but i'd rather play it safe than get thrown in jail for trying to purchase illegal substances. you're also running the risk of getting an adulterated pill or an unknown substance (you can't exactly whip out your trusty EZ test in the middle of a club to test a pill).

Most people think im 23 or something but im actually 17 lol

Lol... I'm 35 and my fiance is also (we both look alot younger tho) winke... call us geeks but we have NO IDEA how to find it and it sounds like something we would have done.....I am seriously laughing my ass over here... I can rest assure you that it wasn't us that you talked to tho. Good grief for us older folks who are truly ignorant to the scene. Only in Jamaica would we not look like fools...and there, what's safe??
