Underage drinking

This one goes out to all you americans that have to be 21 to buy alcohol...

I live in DK... i can legally buy alcohol and cigs at age 15. But started drinking at 13-14.
And my parentes accepted it just before i turned 15.
When did you start drinking? How did you get your alcohol? How do you feel about that age 21 law? What do you think it should be at?

I started drinking when I turned 18, but that's a late start really. It's not difficult for me to obtain alcohol at all really. I have an older sibling and the majority of my friends are of age as well (I'm 20 now). I've actually forgotten from time to time when accompanying friends into the liquor store that I can't actually be the one to purchase it.

I think 21 is an alright age at which to place legal drinking. I'm not sure that I would see 20 at such a bad age either, though. I know that people go into that whole harangue about being old enough to vote and old enough to die for the country but not old enough to drink, but quite honestly I don't even know that many people that are 21 that are that responsible with drinking that I'd be willing to take the legal age down to 18. Not to say that there aren't highly responsible 18 year olds, I know there are. However, it would seem at least in America that we have a tendency not just to indulge but often to overindulge. I think it's best to keep the legal drinking age over 20 at least.

Plus, you have to consider health reasons. The same with cigarettes, alcohol is going to more drastically and negatively affect younger, not quite fully developed bodies.

The only problem I've got with the 21+ age has been the bars. There's not too many opportunities for going out to a larger gathering of people on the weekends sometimes other than the bars...especially during the week.
 
I personally think that a person should first learn to drink first, then drive... Hell.. I'm 24 now and I drive drunk a hell of a lot better than when I was 17.. **pulls over to puke**
 
I started drinking when I was 16, my friend who were 21 would buy me alcohol. I think the drinking age should be 18.
 
started drinking around the age of 14. i don't really have a perminent buyer, i need to find one. i agree on the age being 18 instead of 21
 
Started drinking when i was 12 years old. for like a year we would just steal our parents liquir lol. Then when i was like 13 i got a job at a pizza place and someone there would hook it up alot plus stealing from parents still. Then around 14 i just knew so many people who were 21 that i could get it most of the time. Then like 6 months ago i got a fake id and it was great. then it got taken away and now a good freind of mine got one so i can pretty drink whenever i want
 
i started drinking when i was 16, i found it fun for a while but overall it was a dissapointment. alcohol was just a little too poisonous to make it worth it for me so i pretty much stopped drinking by the time i turned 18 and had discovered marijuana and other drugs. i think the drinking age should be 19 but really i think alcohol should be illegal because its not fair that it's legal to drink but not do other drugs.
 
had my first sip of alcohol at 8. Started sporadic drinking from the ages of 9-14. Than i became a semi-alcoholic (semi meaning, it did not debilitate me ) and i was and still am able to control my drinking. There is no minimum age here for drinking....WOOT!
 
I have had a fake ID since I was around 16-17. So I have been able to buy alcohol now for 2-3 years. I only have one more year to go. If you want it bad enough you will get it :) I have used my ID 100's of times with every type of place and never been questioned.
 
I first started drinking at around 13 by stealing it from the cabinent. Now, at 16 I usually steal it or have someone steal it for me and give them money or weed in return. I probably get shit-faced drunk once a week. It's not hard at all for me to get alcohol, infact I am drinking right now.
 
I started drinking pretty regularly at 15. I got it from a friends sibling or took it from my parents. I think that the legal age should be 18, maybe even lower, but also that the penalties for underage drinking should be lowered significantly. It's rirdiculous to think you need to be 21 in order to drink responsibly. If someone wants to drink, they will in most cases. It's really not all that hard to get. It's not worth the trouble, people will always find ways.
 
I started drinking regularly when I was 15. But the first time i tried it was when I was in 6th grade. I can get alcohol very easily. I have alot of friends who are 21 and brothers and sisters who are over 21. Although I do just wish that the law was set at 18. Even though I am not 18 yet. That is when here in America you can vote and make your own decisions, and many people move out of there parents house etc. I just think it is kind of weird to have a law that makes it to were you have to wait until 21. I mean I don't understand how they can send you to prison for something you do (because you are old enough to know what is right and wrong and make your own decisions), yet you still are not able to make your own decision about alcohol. If that makes any sense... kind of hard to explain what i mean.

Had some sips and whatnot from beers when I was a little kid. Then I made some of my own alcohol. I didn't drink a lot of it at all, got buzzed and that's about it... I could get it easily if I wanted it, brother + sister binge drink with friends...
 
never had my first drink until I was 18, well after the e/k/meth/mushrooms. Prohibition is funny like that.
 
first got drunk at age 14, and since then have gotten drunk maybe 2 or 3 other times.

im not big on drinking, at all. i prefer fucking nutmeg over alcohol.
 
i start drinking at 13

became a regular drinker at 14-15

then quit for a year. became a drug user at 16. didnt drink much.

now i drink like a fucking sailor.
 
Im in Oz so the legal age is 18. I started at 12, we always either just got older friends or siblings to get it, though there were a few nights that involved standing outside of bottle shops asking every random to buy us drinks. Had a great night one time when we saw a few guys walking down the street and asked them to but for us...they apologised that they wouldn't but had just come out of an AA meeting and didn't think it would be right to support underage drinking but we all had a good laugh.
