Ultimate Mini-Health Tips

I have Strep but I've been unable to speak for a week now.

Is this normal? It just hurts my throat and head a lot when I talk.

How about: How should one prepare to get a good night's rest?

^Read a book, turn off the tv and movies for a little while before getting into bed, maybe a warm bath right before would be good too. For me reading is the #1 way to unwind as opposed to watching tv...

It doesn't matter what kind of book you read, it's just that TV is more stimulating than reading and your brain can't "wind down" as easily just after watching it.

getting to sleep easier...

make sure that you're only using your bed for sleeping and well...being intimate. your body is much more likely to realize it's time to sleep if it only lays down when it's in bed.

something i learned years ago....but have never learned to actually do. ah well.

Poopie - Actually, using your bedroom for as little stimulating activities as possible is the best way for your mind to associate that room and bed as "bed time."

I use my brother's, who is away in Japan, room, but it has too much dust in it and I cough my lungs up when I try to sleep.

newskin - What about books that get you into to them? The ones that get you excited and make you turn each page with delight? I'm assuming you're talking about sedating books that are interesting enough to keep you into the book but not too interesting as to get your mind working up a storm.

When a cold is coming on, 2000mg of Vitamin C every three hours. And you keep that up for at least a week.

ive been told its not healthy to consume more than 10,000mg of vitamin C per day.

for the onset of a soar throat i also grate some ginger and do ginger juice shots. its pretty intense going down but does wonders for the throat and has lasting effects on the immune system.

Why not have two oranges a day for a cold? After eating an orange, I'll literally feel better for a little bit, ranging from 30mins to an hour.

Oranges, sleep, and Cold-Eeze lozenges (sp??) seem to be the trick for colds...

Ginger works well on a sore throat? Hmm...

What does it mean when your eye starts to hurt (pain on your eye and pain behind your eye)?

A couple of random thoughts

I hear and experience all the time how marijuana impears (sp?) memory with great use, but is that really a bad thing? Especially in remembering bad things that you've experienced. And for the important stuff that you may forget along the way you can write down to remember, such as carrying around a notepad and pen. In fact, I'm glad I wrote this stuff down or I would have forgotten this theory probably otherwise. And you also feel a sense of pride when you remember positive things w/out remembering them just because you wrote it down. I see why vietnam vets get great medicinal qualities from marijuana for post tramatic stress syndrome symptoms,

Also, for people trying to lose weight or eat healthier, it makes sense to spread out your food intake by eating your meals spread out. It's ok to order 20 bucks of food at say Wendy's, but eating it spread out to 2-3 days while eating other things like fruits and veggies. Don't hog down a bunch of high fat or high sugar foods, yet spread the fat out. Of course some fat is necessary and is ok with excersise involved. Balance is the key. I love that word "balance".

syd barret - They were thinking of using canibus to help people get over painful memories... I'm unsure of the details, though.
