UK's new internet laws, are we going to lose our anonymity, and become as heavily censored and monitored as China, North Korea, Russia etc?

Yeah I'm not a fan of this law at all. Frustratingly the two major parties here were in lock step support for it. I think because they are all led by baby boomers who can't envisage any good reason why younger people might use social media for good. They just seem these as inherently bad for youth. Which is BS. And my hunch is many of the younger folks will get around it. But will then be harder to track once the laws come in. A bit like drug laws really - prohibiting things that have a demand is never the way.
 
There's a lot of evidence that social media is very bad for the youth, and pretty much everyone else who uses it. Plus it pretty much monopolises internet traffic into literally a handful of websites, killing off old school discussion forums and a shit ton of other small websites. Bluelight likely only exists because you can't really talk about drug stuff on most social media sites.

You do realise that the point of the video I posted was literally how America’s Constitution does - and will continue to do - shit all to protect its citizens from grossly over-zealous internet censorship, ever-reducing levels of privacy, and ever-increasing levels of data collection.

The push for this censored surveillance state under the guise of "protecting the children" seems to be bipartisan but at the same time so is the pushback.
I already need to switch my vpn location to a blue state whenever I want to hop on pornhub.

Also the fact that they are using AI for allot of content moderation and age verification makes things allot worse. In this online game I play I got my voice and text chat muted for 90 matches for "toxic behavior" because I said the word "fuck" a few times while I was complementing my teammates for doing a great job when we won each round and the match.
The characters in the game's dialog say the same curse words plus it's a game where you shoot people and blow them up.

That 'subjects not citizens' thing is often parroted by Americans, but we've all been citizens for 42 years, save for a few people born in overseas dominions at a certain time. So I had British Subjects as parents (born in 1940s Ireland) but I've always been a British citizen.

Most British subjects are dead, elderly or have secured British citizenship. British citizens don't have to swear loyalty to a monarch, a country or anything. And when it comes to your own troops being on the street to control you, you'll know what the score is.

As for the one world government and the like, that's too David Icke for me.

Surely such a plan would have prompted credible whistleblowers given its scale, but as usual with this stuff, they're conspicuous by their absence. Just a few kooks on podcasts.
