UK's drug industry

This thread made me want to start a separate thread debating "the war on drugs". Propaganda, Political position, sustainability, failure and the use of mass media. I didn't though as I couldn't be asked and it looks a bit conspiracy theory.
 
I would happily pay 80s prices for an 80s biscuit, so would many other people believe me, and you wouldnt find anyone complaining!!

I like how people think the £20 for an ecto in the 80's meant you were getting £20 worth of ecto as opposed to now. It was simply a case of no-one had heard of the stuff & it was amazing so they could charge what they want. I bet the mark-up was off the scale on those £20 pills at some point in the supply chain, until someone else thought "hold up, this cunt is paying £2 & selling for £20, I'll pay £2 & sell for £10 but sell ten times as much"

Then you've got the lab churning out 10,000 pills at a time, once there's enough demand they ramp the production up to 100,000 or 1,000,000 at a time & the individual unit cost drops dramatically.

Economics & shit init like blud yagetme?

im gonna give u a little example here, and its pureley an example. lets call it a story.

im italian (im not really but youll get the jist) i was brought up on my grandmothers minestrone soup. the reicpe had been handed down through the generations, containing the finest ingredients.

alas my grandmother has now passed away, shes not about anymore, and i have no desire to be a cook, im lazy and im a very busy bee. now i have all the supermarkets telling me they have minestrone soup. ive been, ive tried them all, but they do not taste the same. i get moaned at for comparing the two, all i get is excuse after excuse, but its minestrone soup, everyone likes it, there happy, its tasty. it doesnt contain fresh local tomatoes off the vine anymore either, it now contains tomato puree. most these people that kick me down have never event tried my grans soup, they just automatically assume the sainsbursy tin made in the midlands is exactly the same. they worked out for the last 3 or 4 years that tesco value was absolutley disgusting, as i give them some credit for that. now marks and spencers have got a finest range just come out, its defo an imporvement, but it still aint patch on my grannys, cause i no she goes to the garden and gets all the correct ingredents that were ment to be in it in the orinignal recipe :)

i concur. to back this up in more scientific terms:

please, dee dee, look at the definition of a potential energy surface (the best description of a molecule for a wide variety of applications) and tell me where the provenance of the ingredients come into play. its nuclear and electronic degrees of freedom, positions and electrostatic interactions.

i'm yet again incredibly confused about what this thread is supposed to be about. too much mulled wine i guess. enjoyed reading the actual war on drugs/economics bits though.

dee dee can you not see how ridiculous your comparison is? there's no free range organic and tesco value versions of MDP2P etc, it's a chemical got from chemical suppliers and will be exactly the same except minus a point or so of a percentage purity.

aye i thought we'd sorted it but then you go and do it again, sort it out haha. when not being bothered about something the effort of the person asking you to do it lies with them not you, so however much you can't be fucked to do it you can always be asked. it's like you can make a phrase using fresh pasta and vine ripened cherry tomatoes or you could just try and make your own by shitting into a mug, some people might enjoy a mug of shit but it's not the same.
