I am speaking exclusively of medical record, not criminal. What problems can I expect to face in future?

I am aware once you've got 'addict' on your record your GP will be anxious about future prescriptions. I know taking out life insurance at a later date will be made more difficult.

  • What about car insurance?
  • What about obtaining a firearms certificate / license?
  • What about emigration? If I were to move to a non-EU country (Australia, Canada, USA etc.) will they, does anyone know, check medical records? Having a single cannabis arrest on your criminal record can bar you from the USA because they're very strict. Does that strictness include a medical check?

Need to know these things before I go and tell my doc about the problems I've been having. Any advice or insight, particularly from those who have experienced problems directly, is greatly appreciated.

Do you know it says "addict"? I had to fill in a form for BUPA medical cover a few years ago, as part of an employment package. It asked if I'd ever used drugs. I said Yes, LSD, cocaine, MDMA, cannabis, as a student. I didn't mention that I was doing an OU course at the time :) nothing was said about it!

^What made you say you had done those drugs? Wouldn't it be easier to just say no you havent and not potentially face any future predicaments?

Well, I suppose you could call it naivety or innocence of a sort =D I thought they might have done a piss test, and I didn't want to commit fraud. I can't remember if there was a piss test, probably was. This was back in the day when I didn't really understand the world :o now I've worked it out, ACAB etc ;)

Some insurance companies wish to check your medical records before issuing life cover for mortgages etc. Some specifically ask you if you have had problems with substance / alcohol abuse etc.

The way things are going at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if substance abusers are totally cut off from any medical help via the NHS, similar to the arguments that smokers or drinkers shouldn't get NHS treatment because their problems are 'preventable'!! Well what about the fat bastards that are eating themselves to death? What about the moronic, vacuous bitches that get fuckin tit, arse & lip implants just so they can get laid more often, then find out they've been stuffed with industrial bath sealant..!! What about them eh? Should they be refused medical treatment on the NHS? I say YES, just fuckin put them out of our misery and kill the fuckin lot. Then the NHS will have enough money to look after us smokers, drinkers and drugtakers.. Yeh?? :p
