“OUT of control”, “violent” “prone to biting” – does this sound like a good night out to you? But these are just some of the shocking side-effects faced by people high on party drug Bubble.

Mephedrone is rapidly replacing cocaine and ecstasy as the drug of choice by many youngsters – leaving police fearful of the potentially fatal consequences. Bubble – as it is known on the streets locally – has been linked to paranoia, nose bleeds, hallucinations, blood circulation problems,
anxiety, fits, delusions and even heart attacks. And senior detectives today warned users it is impossible to know what potentially deadly concoction they are taking.

But it was designated a Class B drug in 2010 after being linked to a number of deaths. Despite the classification change, it is still widely available on the internet. It can also be bought for as little as £3 a bag from street dealers. One website warns the substances it peddles are “not for human consumption”, while another claims its derivative of the drug is legal in the UK because of its chemical make-up. Det Chief Insp Brian Quinn, from Blackpool CID, said the negative side-effects of the drug appeared to be having an impact on its popularity after the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs linked Mephedrone to 98 deaths nationally. But he added there were still many willing to risk taking it.

I like how the concern is solely over how the drug is affecting the user, and not those around them. Never mind if they stab someone to death while foaming at the mouth.

"Mephedrone is rapidly replacing cocaine and ecstasy as the drug of choice by many youngsters"

"But it was designated a Class B drug in 2010 after being linked to a number of deaths."

Are you trying to tell me that people are still taking it, even though it's illegal? OHMAGOD!
"

OMG meph has been linked to nose bleeds!!
See people that say people who chose to take another substance than alcohol, harming themselves only (unlike alcohol), should get anthrax and die, should be the ones to get anthrax and die.
I didnt realise feeling good at the weekends = scum.

You dont like it? Dont take it, how is it not that simple?

Alcohol make people way more violent than mephedrone. I know a lot of people who do a lot of drone and they get far more violent when they're drunk.

Some of the comments are disgusting. Disgusting in that people seem to enjoy seeing others suffer for reasons unrelated to them.

And the ignorance is outstanding:

Long time drinkers/smokers passing judgment on youth for trying a legal or illegal high - many of them self-medicating or trying to escape their sobering situations - and considering themselves almost as saints among criminal scum. How ironic that they are the ones costing Britain's healthcare system a fortune. Many of them ruin more than just their lives by driving drunk and second hand smoke (among other things). How sad that propaganda has triumphed over the majority of them.

what the hell is bubble? is that the new name for mephedrone?

the comments are beyond disgusting. i find it repulsive that people say these kind of things, simply because they can hide behind a computer screen. the anthrax quote is the definition of what scum are starting to fill this planet, not the drug takers. i'd like to see their reaction when their child's "bubble" is mixed with anthrax, would it still be clearing the scum, or his precious child? unbelievable.

the stuff is probably being cut with all sorts of shit now which is what's causing these problems. when it was legal at least it was somewhat controllable.

Then there's the "Anyone stupid enough to take drugs must take the consequencies" type comments. I know this is methedrone, not MDMA, but they say the same sort of thing for MDMA also. A user of MDMA is actually 100 times less likely to die from street-MDMA than a user of alcohol is from alcohol. Yet they believe the 1000000-1 disproportionate media coverage and think party pill = certain death.

It boggles my mind how the commonality of such gruesome side effects is never or very rarely reported!

Also, I really hate the sarcasm that goes on in threads such as this.

It is good to read those ignorant comments.
It lets us know who we are dealing with, and why the issues are never as simple as the seem to us.

What depresses me is that these small-minded people have a vote… ;)

What depresses me is that these small-minded people have a vote… ;)

They've already thought of that. It doesn't matter which candidate they vote for they will all do the same thing once in office. Nothing.

Go out in any city anywhere in gayland, guarantee one person will ask you for/try to sell some "bubble" as the news have taken to calling it.

Dear england - stop fuckin' about and get quality mdma back in ya bellys. No disrespect to any mephheads on here, but that stuff is laaaaaame.

Typical media scare-mongering. This is not too different to the public hysteria surrounding weed or LSD a few decades ago.

Oh yes, no night out is complete without getting off my mash on Bubbly-Meow-Kat and biting some geezers nose off
