The building blocks of molecular technologies (process of developing materials, devices or structures at the molecular level, at least one dimension sized from 1 to 100 nanometres) are evolving at a level where we cannot identify with a naked-eye, therefore, we need virtual-reality software to visualise in three dimensions what we are building. Designer nanodrugs are one among many things falling in this category.

The arrival of these drugs will create more challenges and complexities for drug control and trafficking authorities in controlling the abuse of illegal synthetic drugs globally.

Designer nanodrugs, also known as Recreational Drugs are impossible to trace and regulate. The rates of misuse of illegal drugs by teenagers are increasing day by day and with the advent of the molecular technologies will lead to more complicated lives.

He also added "Health hazards are major and cumulative. Amphetamines may cause dependence and psychoses. Ecstasy may speed up the normal aging process, leading to Alzheimer-type symptoms. Who will assist, and pay for, a generation of abusers under-performing in schools and at work because of the impact of abuse?"

For teenagers prone to risky behaviour, the designer nanodrugs will be far worse than the other drugs. It also leads to adult propensities which the general population will be at high risk.

Wow, that article was really stupid. Designer nanodrugs? You're not going to make anything smaller than ethanol, and that's detectable...

For an article that uses the word "propensities", that is one of the dumbest things I've ever read. Designer nanodrugs? What the hell? So is Paracetamol, Cocaine, Alcohol, Tobacco, Propanolol, Prozac, well anything made up of molecules. I don't see the point of the article at all.

How did the International Business Times, a competent and well-respected newspaper, publish this abomination?

The building blocks of molecular technologies (process of developing materials, devices or structures at the molecular level, at least one dimension sized from 1 to 100 nanometres) are evolving at a level where we cannot identify with a naked-eye,

He really just proclaimed that we are no longer able to eyeball molecules because they have gotten so small.

therefore, we need virtual-reality software to visualise in three dimensions what we are building.

Perspective drawing is at least as old as the European Renaissance.

Designer nanodrugs are one among many things falling in this category.

There is such a thing as nanopharmaceuticals, but this author has no idea what they are. Amphetamine type drugs are simply the product of centuries-old organic chemistry, not nanotech.

Designer nanodrugs, also known as Recreational Drugs

no

are impossible to trace and regulate

no and no

The rates of misuse of illegal drugs by teenagers are increasing day by day and with the advent of the molecular technologies will lead to more complicated lives.

All the pertinent technologies have been around for decades. The only recent "advent" is the internet, which lets large numbers of people communicate complex ideas and request bulk custom synths from China.

Between 1990 -2001, there was a drug called Ecstasy for which the rates of misuse of by teenagers exceeded those of nearly every preceding drug of choice.

There's no way that MDMA use surpassed weed. And MDMA is still around. And it's not a nanodrug.

This was indicative of a relatively new phenomenon that began with LSD

Nor is LSD, which is also not purely "synthetic".

Health hazards are major and cumulative. Amphetamines may cause dependence and psychoses. Ecstasy may speed up the normal aging process, leading to Alzheimer-type symptoms. Who will assist, and pay for, a generation of abusers under-performing in schools and at work because of the impact of abuse?

Clearly this is dystopian hyperbole. And the irony comes full circle when you realize that amphetamine is given to legions of school children to increase their productivity.

For teenagers prone to risky behaviour, the designer nanodrugs will be far worse than the other drugs.

Even though he has no idea what he's talking about, he accidentally makes a good point here. The illegality of relatively safe drugs leads to the emergence of more dangerous drugs. But LSD and MDMA are among the safe drugs! Banning them created the problem, rather than solved it.

It also leads to adult propensities which the general population will be at high risk.

What can this sentence mean?

I eagerly await a real article on recreational nanodrugs.

Man sometimes I think the press in the usa is bad - then i read these shit articles from the uk.
IBTimes though ?! I would have thought this was a Daily Fail Headliner...
