I found this, it's nowt to do with me and I wish i could do it but sadly can't and I thought some people here would be up for this for the £1200 in vouchers!

The study is in Manchester and to do with ibogaine and NON-DEPENDENT recreational opioid users.

I wonder what they mean by non depandant, as in not addicted or not relying on for pain. If the latter it could be a great way to get clean if anyone's trying to with some tasty whsmith vouchers to boot.

What they mean is someone who is an recreational opioid user, not a person using to control pain and also isn't physically dependent or addicted, as in you do not sure any withdrawal at all when not using.

Thats what I thought but not sure how they can test iboganes effects on withdrawl if the user isnt expecting to get any. Unless they plan on deliberalty giving people enough opiates that they will then get withdrawal. I'd need more than 1600 in vouchers to risk going down that rabbit hole!

gotta say £1200 in vouchers is pretty lame for having to take 5 days leave from work + a load of time for their appointments, even if i likely live within a half hour walk (not qualified anyway).

i wonder if the not dependent bit is to make it easier to get ethical approval for the study - and presumably if they get promising results from this, in that the users reduce their use, they will be in a better position to get approval to test on addicts.

Yes, I've never been dependent but I am certainly an addict. No doubt.
