A portrait of Amy Winehouse made from prescription drugs has been unveiled by guerrilla artist Miss Bugs.
The powerful artwork uses hundreds of coloured pharmaceutical drugs to form the tragic singer's face. Winehouse, who won a multitude of Grammy awards for her Back to Black album, was found dead at her Camden Town home in North London in 2011, aged just 27. She died of alcohol poisoning but her problems with drugs earlier in her life were well documented, and her physical health impaired.
A spokesman for South London street artist Miss Bugs, who also sells mixed-media works for galleries, said they had deliberately waited for a suitable time to pass after her death before making the piece from pharmaceutical capsules float-cast in resin on wood and aluminium. He added: "We wanted to do a piece of Amy Winehouse around the time that she died, although we didn't feel it was right at that moment.
