Get the right breed and no burglar in their right minds gonna try rob your house, plus there’s nothing like the love of a good dog.
Cane Corso’s, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Alsatians. All great loving dogs, and if you know how to train and socialise them, perfectly safe around other people, but they aren’t gonna allow any fucker to enter your house when you’re sleeping.

A burglar with a knife will just stab the dog. This will probably make the situation more traumatic, if you like the dog.
Plus most people are not cut out to train the only dogs that might actually be useful, German / Belgian Shepards (A pitbull might maul the burglar but will probably maul you afterwards)

A lot of burglars are off their heads on crack or valium. They will often beat people up or worse to find out where the good stuff is. Plus they might also be rapists, pretending to be asleep is not the best option.

I'm not anti gun. I like guns. But I'm anti everyone being able to access them. I don't trust people. So many cunts...
I'm ok with farmers having guns. It's effectively a tool. I'm no so into toffs having them so they can shoot wildlife for fun. Boils my blood actually. Killing for food is one thing. Killing for fun is unacceptable in my book.
I'm glad we live in a country where handguns are illegal.

True. They are shit and are only interested in bullshit charges and get their kicks on the weekends arresting dumb drunken people on a night out who had one too many whiskys.
As others have said, get a good dog if you're worried about home security. You don't need to get anything illegal, just look at the breeds and what they are bred for. I didn't really want a dog but what my missus wants she gets and so we ended up with a strange mix of breeds. But he will defend what he considers as his territory with aggression. I've learnt a lot about dogs and what they were bred for since having him and he's a beautiful, loving creature but a protector. It's in his instinct.
As for weapons, you just have to be careful. Anyone looking to rob you is not gonna grass on themselves so that's a useful tidbit to keep in mind but I quoted the law a few pages back. You will defend your home as you see fit with whatever is available to you. But only if you are able to. Pros will likely not target a house with people in it without conducting some research first and those kinds of rich cunts that get targeted have panic rooms and all that. If you're talking about the home. Invasion types then it's all fair game really when I it comes to the law, unless you use something specifically prohibited by law such as a gun.
And the person who said that getting a shotgun is easy is full of shit. They don't give them out unless you have a reasonable reason to have one, a safe place which they have to check out, a license of course and membership of some gun club circle jerk. I got offered my first shotgun when I was 14,just the two barrelled ones with space for two shells and actual hammers to fire the shot. People turn them into sawn offs but you're not allowed to have them, especially without the license and especially if you've used a hacksaw to cut it down and make it more dangerous to whoever you're pointing it at. But usually shotgun licenses which are the only legal guns available in the UK as far as I know are difficult to get licenses for unless you're a farmer or some rich snobby cunt who likes to shoot innocent animals like my man Bad Boy said and the likelihood of getting a license is increased if you're in the lodge... If you want a gun your best bet is going onto the streets but don't do that unless you know people. Some foolish people stash them with junkies and others even Rob them from where they were stashed - I know of a poor crackhead girl who had her flag shot up due to this. But if you got a gun through these channels, it will probably be linked to at least a dozen of other shootings across the country.
You don't need a gun anyway. If anyone comes in, do everything you can do disable them unless they have the advantage in which case let them do with they are doing and avoid getting yourself hurt. Not worth it over a TV and a couple of laptops. If you have major jewels and whatnot then you will have safes and will live in a gated community and a panic button and all that good stuff.
