POLICE have promised a crackdown on 'legal highs' at this year's GlobalGathering festival, expected to bring 40,000 party-goers to the Stratford-upon Avon area.

The annual dance festival takes place at Long Marston Airfield this weekend and on Friday a team of 50 officers will be searching people going into the festival for both illegal and legal drugs.

Complete with sniffer dogs, the police say anyone found with illegal drugs will be arrested, while festival stewards will be told about anyone found carrying ‘legal highs’.

Supt Martin Samuel, of Warwickshire Police, who is heading this year’s GlobalGathering policing operation, said: “The organisers have told us they don’t want drugs on the festival site and anyone found with legal highs faces being turned away.

“People may think legal highs are all right to take, but just because they have a label saying “Legal in Britain” or something similar, doesn’t mean they are safe for human consumption. They can make you very ill.”

Thats going to be a shit festival if nobody will be drinking or smoking. Not even a cup of coffee.

everyone gets illegal drugs in. dunno why they think they'll be able to stop people getting legal drugs in either.
