Police were called to a Bradford nightclub at the weekend after two men were left critically ill after collapsing unconscious outside the venue. The men had been partying at the NV Nightclub in Great Horton Road before the 2.15am incident on Saturday. Officers have now issued a warning about the potentially devastating consequences that illegal drugs or legal highs can cause.
“We would always advise against ingesting anything into your body which is not for a bone fide medical reason."

Two people collapse from Illegal drugs/ Legal highs and it makes the news. Yet there will be at least 300 people taken to hospital in a night from drinking too much alcohol.

Maybe if they had access via televised public service announcements about bluelight to inform them of the potential dangers of the things they were messing with, they'd still be alive.

Everyone is responsible for themself of course, but drugs aren't playthings. They're like guns, although that's a bad analogy. Only in the sense that they need to be respected and they need to be informed on every aspect of the agent they're carelessly fucking around with.

On the other side of the coin, this information that all of us are plainly aware of isn't taught in schools and receives no large-scale publice broadcasting. For this I blame the government, of course, so both sides have their hands stained in the crimson water of life that is no more.

Still a shame, but these sensationalist pieces are really getting to me. If my opinion on modern journalism degrades any further I may just have to go out there and change professions. I'd be ruthless and unmerciful, and beat them like amputee junkyard dogs with scabies and a complete lack of moral character.

What about nicotine, alcohol, chemical additives, growth hormone, fluoride, etc etc.

What purpose do these chemicals have that the others don't, MEDICALLY.

Cutting holes in this type of article is like shooting fish in a satchel.

^growth hormone can't affect you unless you inject it. When eaten, I suppose it just becomes inert peptide fragments (although an RC company does sell an oral GH fragment that may be active, so perhaps there's something to that; I doubt it though).

took legal highs or illegal drugs
Legal or Illegal wtf does it matter!?!?!
Then they also advise everyone to stop taking any illegal or legal substances, FFS how many people are really going to listen to this? Why dont they just find out WHAT WAS took then warn people WHAT the danger is (If there is one, Or perhaps someone dosed too high, had a bad reaction etc)

I was just pulling shit out of a hat, for example sake. It still lends to the general point I was going for.

Thanks for the info though, I definitively didn't know that and I love learning shit I don't already know. And yes, I'm being sincere and not being sarcastic. Its hard to tell someones tone without annunciation available to you.

:)

My favourite part has got to be -

It is not known whether the men, both aged 20 and not known to one another, took legal highs or illegal drugs before they passed out and it is also not known whether they took the substance inside or outside the club.

So nobody knows if they collapsed from being too hot, ill health, alcohol, were fighting, are clumsy or anything... Yet the police are telling us not to take any drugs? (except from alcohol or tobacco of course)

This is potentially worrying though, I would like to know what drug/drugs were ingested. I live in Leeds and as Bradford is local, chances are some of these are going to spread to Leeds.

.

the last thing bluelight needs is any kind of attention. i hate to say it but if bluelight ever got media attention it would be closed down pretty quick.

I didn't mean literally BLUELIGHT. Just some form of government sponsored educational programs.

It would like the "anti-dare" system basically.

This board has nothing to hide. The staff here is large and sedulous, and anything that impedes harm reduction is removed rather quickly. If the media were to give a shit about us, I'm sure they could cherry-pick stuff that makes us look bad, but if they dig deeper and put that stuff in context, they'll see that we're the good guys.

Amen

These forums are not here to encourage drug use. We may - for example - guide someone how to correctly IV a recreational drug but we do it because we want to minimize the possible problems which could arise from said activity (e.g., the user doesn't know the drug in question is not water soluble and may cause serious damage (possible thrombosis, tissue necrosis, etc.) if IV'd to begin with). At least that's the way I see it.

^ Thats exactly what it is, harm reduction

If someones gonna do hard drugs, theres no stopping them. But letting them kill themselves with shitty unsafe techniques, (due to the lack of HR out there) just ain't cool..

I agree. Harm reduction has to be the way forward. Prohibition of any substance has only ever caused proliferation at any time it has been tried in the history of mankind.
