Plan B believes parents should experiment with some drugs so they can educate their children about the dangers and effects.

Plan B advises parents to try drugs in order to teach their kids about them. he singer-and-rapper - who has previously admitted to once smoking heroin but not enjoying it - thinks the best way to educate children about the dangers of drug use is to talk about it from an experienced perspective.

He said: ''One way of educating yourself about drugs is doing them. It's true! You wanna learn about warn your kids off, smoke a spliff, experience it!
''It's unhealthy to reject all drugs. They're in our society, commonly used, you need to understand them to protect your kids from them.''

Okey, I'm all for unbiased education of kids on important matters such as drugs, and being open minded in regards to it, but smoking H yourself so you can explain to your kid what it's pro's and cons are so they can decide for themselves? That's a bit overboard if you ask me.... I highly doubt any parent is going to take this serious anyway.

jesus - thats not the way to go to getting the drug problem under control...

better drug education in school/growing up on the dangers of alcohol should be focused on more. in my experience we were taught that drinking was normal - even binge drinking wasn't that badly punished, or ever really mentioned... the true effects and the realities even prescription drugs can cause should also be focused on - we are under the pretense that prescription medication is fine as its given out by a doctor (my generation anyway, i'm 18 at the moment) when actually some of the stuff is more addictive than the even more "hardcore" drugs too

i remember a drugs speaker came into my college when i was 14 and didn't even mention the use of alcohol, in fact encouraged the use of drugs frankly telling us that the majority of people in the room will have tried cannabis by my age - then went on a long rant about how cocaine ruined his life, all i managed to pick out were the positive effects he got from using cocaine, mdma and cannabis!! but perhaps that is just me. i agree with him though - i can't think of many people at my age now that haven't tried alcohol or cannabis let alone any other drugs.

The dangers of prescription drugs really needs to be educated. I only got taught that weed is bad for you and that trying meth once you will be addicted forever. I used to be anti-drugs big time but after a few years, I started getting curious and starting researching drugs, now it is my biggest interest, I love doing them and all but limit myself, just how drugs work on the body is fascinating to me.

Now the problem with people is that they believe everything that the doctors tell them and that it is all safe but even then doctors will never say anything as there is just too much money involved. My mother is a pharmacist and went to a lecture by an American lady on painkillers and where they are going. This lady said that anyone with even a minor pain should just take some codeine and that oxy should be prescribed more regularly as it solves all your pains and everything! Not once did she mention that they are bad for you or anything! Shows how bad it is in the industry or the vaccinations/injections for cervical cancer for women that they push for every girl to get at high school without mentioning it is not fully tested and people have endured some pretty serious side effects (sister's friend starting have seizures and has to stay on medication for it but the doctor denies it was the shot completely and that she should get the next one! There has been other cases of girls having seizures from this shot as well).

Sorry for the rambling but it really amazes me how people take the doctors word for granted, we should be educated on the common illegal drugs and legal drugs.

I see what they mean by the idea of trying drugs however. Experience is a better teacher than education if you get what I mean. Its like university, you learn everything but it is when you do the actual job itself you learn everything in a sense. I find people are more likely to listen when you have experience as well as you most likely have made mistakes and can teach your kids not to make the same ones.

You don't need first hand experience to communicate to your children healthy drug practices.

Probably not, but experience with drugs does allow you to have a more balanced and informed opinion on drug use. My kids are under no illusion that drug addiction is unhealty, and personally I would prefer they wait until they are 20 before they experiment, but I am also smart enough to know that they will come into contact with all sorts of drugs in high school (if not earlier) and once they realise that they won't die if they have a sneaky toke they will start to question any bullshit that the antidrug crusaders throw at them. Honesty is better than blatant lies, kids will respect you more and will be more open to intelligent debate. Being a healthy role model is also important.

Oh come on… the pill-popping, acid-munchin' ravers from the late 80s and early 90s are getting into their forties now - more than likely with kids of their own. I'm sure that they don't need a refresher course ;)

Where do I enrol? ;)

Kids don't listen to their parents much, period.
But, they are a lot more likely to listen to parents with some firsthand experience.
Because my parents admitted to me that they had smoked weed, it allowed me to have conversations with them that would have been impossible otherwise.
My friend's parents let her - with her friends - smoke at her home, and her mom fed us baby potatoes with mayonnaise dressing and sweets she had baked. :) It kept us from smoking in our cars (or reduced car smoking, at least). We were in a safe place, and could have fun there. I always admired this.

Damn, I wonder if you are talking about me here! It seems to fit, apart from the "raver" label. I was a MDMA-popping, acid-munchin' hippy, now getting into my 40s, with kids of my own...
