A TEENAGER is due to appear in court today in connection with the supply of a drug known as "Rockstar".

Seven people were treated in hospital over the weekend after apparently taking the tablets which are thought to have been circulating in the Lanarkshire area.

The red or yellow-coloured pills were allegedly being sold as ecstasy.

Strathclyde Police said an 18-year-old man was arrested and he is expected to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

POLICE are warning clubbers not to take the drug, which is known as Rockstar, because they are potentially fatal.

AN 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the supply of a dangerous drug known as Rockstar.

Seven people were treated in hospital over the weekend after apparently taking one of the tablets circulating in the Lanarkshire area.

The red or yellow-coloured pills were allegedly being sold as ecstasy.

A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: "An 18-year-old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with alleged drug offences.

The teenager is expected to appear before Airdrie Sheriff Court tomorrow.

The pills have already been blamed for the death of one teenager in England.

The victims suffered adverse reactions after taking the tablets but were later released from hospital.

Chief Inspector Fraser Lamb, of Strathclyde Police, said: “These substances are unreliable, unpredictable and potentially very dangerous. Users need to be aware of the dangers and understand the potentially devastating effect these pills can have on their health.”

The force are working with health officials to determine the make-up of the tablets and their origin.

Man arrested over fake ecstasy pill 'Rockstar' freed from custody

A man arrested after fake ecstasy pill Rockstar left seven in hospital has been released from custody.

The 18-year-old had been detained by Strathclyde Police after the incident in Lanarkshire on Saturday.

He was scheduled to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday in connection with alleged drugs offences after he was arrested on Monday.

However, the Crown Office confirmed the man was liberated and did not appear in court over the drugs allegations.

A spokesman said: "The procurator fiscal at Airdrie received a report concerning an 18-year-old male in connection with an incident on 2 March 2013.

"After full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the report, he was liberated from custody pending further investigation and did not appear in court."

Strathclyde Police previously issued a warning to the public to beware the "potentially deadly" pills, which can be either red or yellow in colour and carry the impression of a star on them.

Officers said the contents of the tablets were unknown but could be a cocktail of various other substances. The force said it was working with health officials and medical staff to determine the make up of the tablets and their origin.

I had 3 rockstars on Saturday, 2 gold, 1 red in a club in Glasgow, lucky they weren't from a bad batch. Although I never slept for 2 days, which isn't exactly normal. Gold rockstars are known round my bit to be high on MDMA, red used to be but not so much now.

Edit: Come to think of it, I couldn't piss all night, which also isn't normal of MDMA (for me anyway), maybe there was something a bit not right with the pills, the gold ones were off a random in the rave..? But oh well, I'm still here and had a wonderful night, and no comedown.
