Hey look it looks like paracetamol as well!

"All those drugs must be used by gays too as you can almost spell Homo out of them!"

Headline reads:

Dangerous, Violent gays use Deadly, Bathtub-brewed Drugs!!!
=D

^or he still has the company selling NRG-1 and is using the sun as free advertising to the mass stupid uneducated public

Yep! Sensationalism sells drugs. When Fentanyl-Heroin bags start killing people, every smack user reads the paper to see what the stamp brand names are and where they're showing up to go get some.

"Europe's Crystal Meth", "Feel like God", "Mega Speedball- like Cocaine, Methamphetamine and Ecstasy combined", etc.

If only this compound could possibly live up to the hype.

Maybe if someone out in RC land came out with a Lefetamine-like drug, combined it with drugs that rush when injected (Cyclizine, Promethazine, Clonidine, Quinine, Procaine, Lidocaine, etc) and mashed it all into tablets meant to be injected aka Solvets it might be worth some of this sensationalism.

Wheres the legal speedball solvets you RC bastards :(

Wow. This was no doubt an article written by the manufacturer of naphyrone...

In the interest of harm reduction, I must post this warning from Sun reader Sponend:

One of the kids at our local school got on NRG-1. He cried all the water out of his body. If you're sick on it, you can puke yourself to death.

What a fucking disgrace.

Hahaha. Wow. What a sensationalist piece of shit article. And I thought the American media was bad about this...

While the article sounds like sensationalist trash, I think it highlights a good point, and one that will eventually become a problem. As governments crack down on these chemicals one by one, more and more analogues will keep appearing. The floodgates have been opened and ordering RC's off online vendors has passed from a niche circle of online experimenters to the mainstream drug scene. People have realised they can get high and circumvent the illicit scene and the dealers and the BS, and order drugs to their door with an internet connection and a credit card.

Not only does it completely devalidate all the governments efforts and spending, but it does increase the chance that one will eventually come along that 'does' do all sorts of horrible shit to people. Statistically, it's bound to happen if this game of whack-a-mole continues and no regulation is applied to these chemicals. I think it underlines just how much the current attitude towards illicit drugs has failed, and how much we need a new path to be found.

Anyone else noticed the similarity? =D

lol

This guy really knows a little something about marketing.

Its kinda trash how they hype chems up which could possibly be dangerous to your health. If they want youngsters to avoid drugs, then they shouldnt write anything at all.

But it's a red zone, drugs are well... illegal, and everything new that comes out and are legal are as bad as non-alcohol/caffeine substances in the eyes of an averege person who follows the most hard punishing laws = JOURNALIST CANDY. They earn money from it after all. Who can blame people, seriously. Just the status of drugs make them look oh holy shit bad, not only that but makes you look "fucked" in a non-alcohol way. Ofc depends on dosage, but I gotta admit many drug users go over the limit, looking like assholes just like alcoholics in the public sober eyes.

Of course I do go over the limit too, as soft thinking as I am. Even after some bad accident unless it leads to serious complication, many go back as they forget the event along with the time passing by.

NRG-1 may be next legal high to face ban by ministers

Government advisers to investigate possible ban on NRG-1

Alan Travis, home affairs editor
guardian.co.uk, Thursday 1 April 2010 22.33 BST

The government's official drug advisers are to look at banning a synthetic chemical marketed as NRG-1 that they fear will become the next popular legal high when mephredone is banned in a fortnight.

The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs is also to launch an urgent investigation into the whole range of legal highs now available in Britain. It will look at setting up an early warning system to identify new drugs that emerge on the market and quickly limit their spread.

The ACMD's chair, Professor Les Iversen, has also made clear to the home secretary, Alan Johnson, that their recommendation to ban mephedrone, the imitation amphetamine, as a class B drug does not rest on its possible link to 25 deaths in England and Scotland.

In its report publishedtonight on mephedrone and related compounds, the ACMD also cited the risk of dependence because of re-dosing or "fiending", the involvement of organised crime groups in its supply, its widespread and sudden popularity amongst youths, and its price – £10 a gram – as reasons for the ban.

Iversen has told the home secretary that the ACMD will issue advice on another legal high marketed as NRG-1. The chemical description of this drug is the "napthyl analogue of pyrovalerone". Pyrovalerone is already a banned class C drug in Britain. It is widely prescribed in France as an appetite suppressant. The south-east Asian chemists who have flooded the market with mephedrone and with Spice, a herbal high similar to cannabis which was banned last month, have synthesised this new legal alternative, suppliers said.

A British supplier based in Belgium was quoted by Sky News as saying NRG-1 was being marketed as a mephedrone replacement and could cost as little as 25p a hit.

The early warning system to identify emerging drugs will include analysis of examination of "drug amnesty bins" in clubs. A Home Office spokesman said: "We continue to monitor the emergence and harms of new legal highs to ensure that our approach is proportionate and evidence based."

The ACMD's mephedrone report acknowledges the only evidence so far that it could kill rests on the fact it has been found present at seven out of 18 postmortems into suspected deaths in England. "That mephedrone may have been involved in a death cannot be confirmed until the relevant coroner or procurator fiscal has concluded his inquest," it says.

If Dave wants people to be informed about the dangers of new drugs, then he first should shut the fuck up.

That was the first thing I turned round and said to my mate when he told me about this.... High 5!

i'd say this situation is just a consequence of companies that have suddenly appeared in the wake of the mephedrone/RC stim blow up doing anything they can to survive. the government pushes through a rush ban on something thats become widely popular with joe public thanks to the media hype and scaremongering and has a big user base who are inevitably going to want more because removing supply does not stem demand.
in response the suppliers immediately scrabble for the easiest alternative to get round the law. they pump it out with no information because its illegal to give any info relating to human consumption with it and fear that any info getting to the government will help them build a law against it. a few people will get hold of it early and do a bit of research.
it'll get to the media (maybe deliberately, that dave lewellyn guy who was in the sun looks well dodgy) who will put out another round of bollocks to a public hungry for more of the same. average people will do no research and knock it back along with alcohol and coke or whatever else they usually take. people will get fucked up, someones kid will die and they'll shout think of the children.
there'll be massive public and media outcry, the government will promise to stamp out 'this new menace' and rush in another stopgap law. the whole thing starts over again.

the whole cycle is perpetuated by the collective stupidity of the media, the government and the public. our ineffective, obsolete drug prohibition laws prioritise punishment over proper education and encourage the illegal trade and unregulated sale of RCs especially cos RCs look legal and therefore safe to most people.
clearly the chemists can produce new molecules faster than anything can be done about them maybe we'll get lucky and this will destroy any appearance effectiveness prohibition has left.
this is speaking mainly from a UK perspective though... and through a haze of grass smoke =D
