Drug dealers are hooking cannabis users to their ‘products’ by lacing them with highly addictive heroin, diazepam and methadone.

And now cannabis has overtaken alcohol as the drug that is gripping hold of teens and putting their mental health at risk, a Sunday ECHO investigation reveals.

Now the rising use of super strength cannabis, commonly known as skunk, is causing unknown damage, experts fear.

Specialist Dr Faizal Mohammed, clinical director for Mersey Care NHS Trust’s addiction service, says most young people turning to addiction services for help now come to them for cannabis problems rather than alcohol – so much so that they had to adapt what they do to help them.

And we have spoken to one recovered addict, who is still close to the drugs scene on Merseyside, who revealed how the hard drugs are sprayed onto cannabis leaves to create a ‘hit’ that users will become desperate to repeat.

A victim of laced cannabis has revealed how he spend 20 years fighting a desperate drug habit.

David, who has now managed to get clean, warns that diazepam and methadone can be sprayed on to cannabis with users absolutely clueless as to what they are smoking.

The 32-year-old, who did not want to be identified, said: “These kids of the new generation are in an even worse place than we were. Now they spray it with methadone, diazepam. They put fibreglass, sand and saw dust in to weight it. The diazepam gives you a buzz but when you stop taking it, you get mad panic attacks and it’s a scary place to be.

Im almost posititve you cant smoke any of those substances when you are putting the flame directly to it....like when you are smoking a bowl of weed. Or its EXTREMELY inefficient.

And like numbers said this is a fantasy of mine haha. I wish my weed dealer did this....or that it even worked haha.
 
Methadone can be freebased and smoked, and im also wondering if the same is true for heroin? Is it usually a salt form of heroin that is available on the streets? Is freebase heroin very water soluble
?

I dunno the opioid part sounds possible, heroin laced weed sounds too expensive for any long term profit and is also wasteful from what little I know as ive only injected it.
 
I'm pretty sure most powder heroin, or Number 4 is the hcl salt. I believe number 3 is a freebase, which I haven't seen before to my knowledge.
 
I call bullshit! The "source" is what one ex-drug user thinks is going on? Very unprofessional reporting. For some reason, since cannabis was legalized in CO and WA, authorities in the UK seem to be working extra hard to demonize cannabis....

It's like: "Now that we've had time to really sit down and think about it, weed is even worse than heroin and cocaine! We can't really tell you why, but it is!"
 
Maybe a dealer put heroin in his weed. Stranger things have happened.

The article is perhaps a little obtuse but I find it odd that the London Cannabis Club skeptics are pining for a source of a statement, clearly from Echo and a 32 year old named David.

Not to be overlooked is this from the comment section of "We Call BS..."

"It is totally true, my sister was given exactly this - FREE at a party and she was hooked for ages, took us a year to detox her and it has ruined her life. Why wouldnt it be true?. Is everyone really nice suddenly? Also LCC you should not be encouraging ANYONE to smoke. Cannabis should be juiced and treated as a plant not a tobacco. You would have sparkling health if you did this, not look like a bunch of shrunken, dried up, wrinkled ugly's. Campiagn for juicing, that would impress me."
 
A) the UK has experienced a heroin drought in recent years.
Result: higher prices, lower quality/availability
B) using heroin once won't get you "hooked"
C) you're reading the comments section of a tabloid. Ever occurred to you that people get psychologically "addicted" to cannabis?

It makes NO LOGICAL SENSE to lace weed with H.

Saying one use of heroin will not get you hooked is completely wrong. People get the euphoria of being high and are instantly hooked before they know what addiction even means.

Opioid dependency does take a while, not sure what the heroin dependency timeline looks like.

Pharmacological impossibility - especially if you think you're smoking cannabis.

They used to have reports in the news about heroin being in x pills. I could find half a dozen twats just in my town who could verify this by telling you how smacky pills felt and that this is why the pills were addictive. Of course unverifiable anecdotal evidence is always conclusive proof to the media.
