Operation Audacious lives up to its name

6 Dec 2011

MORE than 50 people have been arrested so far this morning following drugs raids across Manchester. Today, Tuesday 6 December 2011, police have raided the homes of those suspected of drug dealing across the three Manchester divisions (North Manchester, south Manchester and Metropolitan divisions).

Hundreds of officers have been involved in the strikes for Operation Audacious, which took place at just after 6am, including specialist officers from GMP’s tactical aid, mounted, dogs and firearms units, as well as divisional and neighbourhood officers.

“Drugs are a major driving force behind many other crimes such as burglary, robbery and vehicle crime, and that is why we are determined to root out all those involved in this trade, from the addicts to the sellers to those who are bringing the drugs in."

"haul in the criminals" - hardly, they invited like 130 members of the public to follow them in rented mini-busses, why not just record it on camera and show it them like that? Another waste of money.

So, there was 700 officers being used, and 300 detectives on stand by to take in the prisoners, SOCA even got involved with 30 police.

"The big Haul" 20 Bags of Cannabis at one address, 15 Bags at another address and some STOLEN MEAT!!!, crack and heroin were also discovered, why arent they giving the full amounts though? "Bags" could be anything, like an 1/8th.

Yeah! They had 700 officers and 300 detectives to protect the public with and they use them to terrorise the public instead.

Whats the beef with meat anyway? Ive seen the UK border agency spending the whole day checking passengers for IMPORTED MEAT , AND PATE, lining them all up in a que and confiscating there delicays, as long as its not drugs its ok i guess.

'Operation Audacious' Shows We Need to Count the Costs of Drug Law Enforcement

Yesterday, hundreds of police officers carried out dawn drugs raids, serving one hundred warrants in three districts in Manchester, and addresses in Bolton, Stockport and Salford.

'Operation Audacious' was a success, according to the Greater Manchester Police and others. A success in that arrests have been made, public calls for action on street dealers have been heard and acted upon, and in that a clear message has been sent.

But two important questions arise: Are these really measures of success in relation to drugs? And what about tomorrow?

75 people were arrested yesterday, forty-four charged. According to the Greater Manchester Police, "£2k worth of class A drugs, 15 blocks of cannabis, 20 bags of cannabis, a cannabis farm, stolen jewellery and a batch of stolen meat" were seized.

Two thousand pounds worth of Class A drugs is a small amount. The rest is cannabis, which, aside from the criminal market surrounding it is one of the less harmful of currently illicit drugs. It is a small vacuum, which, in the absence of any reduction in demand, of which there is none, will be filled very quickly indeed. The next entrepreneurs in the queue will fill any temporary void left by those charged.

lol at the meat and 130 people watching from minibuses 8(

Anyone want to see a drug dealers car? http://twitter.com/#!/GMPCityCentre/status/144005431029805057/photo/1

On a semi-related note to the car, my city's pigs recently auctioned off literally millions of dollars of bling they had stolen from dealers and other criminals. It got a big article in the paper, they had pics of all kinds of shit, including a 33,000$ brick of silver, rolexes, diamond rings and necklaces.

Found a link in case anyone wants to see some other stuff the police took, across the sea- http://www.statesman.com/news/local/at-federal-auction-bad-guys-bling-goes-to-2009408.html
Not all the pics are in an online version, but the boxing glove signed by Joe Frazier is there, and the gangsta pillbury dough boy.

Remember kids, there's no money in drugs, you should all go work at McDonalds instead.

Back on topic, wtf is a block of cannabis?
