The new deadly threat flooding our streets
Monday 4th February 2013, 5:43AM GMT.
Legal highs are flooding our streets
THEY are packed full of dangerous and often illegal substances – and they are flooding the streets of Jersey.
So-called legal highs have exploded onto the streets during the last few years, and now pose one of the greatest threats to the Island’s youth.
But how much do you know about Jersey’s rapidly evolving drugs scene?
Starting today, the JEP launches a five-day series into modern-day drug use in the Island.
We talk to a secretive figure running a website peddling so-called legal highs to users in the Island, and to the grieving father of a Jersey teenager who died after taking a now illegal drug still being promoted by the site.
We will also examine the apparent decline of class-A drug use, and the worrying emergence of a potentially deadly substance which has become more popular than heroin.
The series, which begins by exposing the dramatic rise in so-called legal high websites, starts on today.
