A man died after taking a new legal high and drinking alcohol on a night out in Jersey, an inquest has heard. Matthew Raymond Wing died in March after taking "Benzo Fury" on a night out with friends. Since Mr Wing's death, the drug, otherwise known as Snowballs or Herbal Ecstasy, has been made illegal.

The inquest heard Mr Wing took at least one tablet of Benzo Fury and drank large amounts of alcohol while out on Saturday 10 March. The officer in charge of the investigation into Mr Wing's death, Det Const Thomas Haydn said Mr Wing had been out with friends.

He said they went to several pubs and clubs and ended up at a party in the early hours of Sunday morning, where Mr Wing's condition deteriorated. Mr Haydn said: "He was sweating and eventually, after a shower, went mad or freaked out, screaming in pain and saying 'get this out of me' and throwing himself around." He ended up at a friend's house, where he was described as being "possessed", and the ambulance was eventually called, Mr Haydn said.

Mr Wing died later in hospital.

I thought that "Snowballs" are a type of E that was around in the 90s that made you feel "monged-out", at least it did to me and my friends, and is reputed to have been MDA. And "Herbal Ecstasy" is usually some ephedra and caffeine based concoction that makes you feel ill.

Probably drinking "large amounts of alcohol" had a lot to do with it.

Benzo Fury is 6-APB and the "Snowballs" in the 90s most likely contained MDEA if they made you feel monged out.

Well there will be deaths with all drugs (though maybe not directly as a result of such)

The question is how common

The Snowballs of the early-mid 90's were Eastern European produced MDA, apparently made into pills that were FAR too strong. I felt there was nothing mongy about them, they were just too fucking strong & not at all empathic. Before leaving to party, I scraped some dust of one tablet & had an anxiety attack on the tube... but unfortunately & stupidly continued to try a full quarter of the round little tablet. I then spent one very long & thoroughly uncomfortable night, hiding under a table in a nightclub, because the cunting bouncers wouldnt let anyone sit on the floor, only on the few seating areas, which were woefully inadequate. This club was also known for banning topless men & for turning the radiators on through the night. Fucking greedy scum!

Long & short of it was that I never, ever made a mistake with a pill again. The experience of an overdose of MDA was ghastly.

The "Snowballs" story is infamous now & I'm sure a little research will confirm what I've just written above.

I was only going with the information that they monged you out, because that's what MDEA does. But yeah I think you're right, they had MDA in them.
