Stark warning from drama student who almost lost it all

GLOWING with health, Ocean Hanna smiles as she discusses her hopes for the future. But three and a half years ago her prospects looked anything but bright. Pale and emaciated, she was in the grip of a crippling heroin addiction which threatened to destroy her. Ocean became hooked on the killer drug at 18 and went from a respectable straight A student to a thieving college dropout who survived on six cans of Red Bull a day and scored hits from street dealers. She says her downfall began when she started experimenting with cannabis, aged just 14.

Last month a House of Commons committee recommended the legalisation of certain drugs in the UK, similar to that of some US states.

But Ocean’s heartbreaking story serves as a warning of the slippery slope to addiction that often begins with the first puff of a joint. Speaking exclusively to The Sun, the recovering addict, now 22, says: “For people with addictive personalities or who need to fill a void, legalising cannabis could be so dangerous. “My problems started with alcohol. I moved on to cannabis, then cocaine, and eventually heroin. It’s a typical progression for an addict. “I smoked weed for days and was incapable of anything productive. “Making cannabis legal holds a lot of risks for a lot of people. “When I look back at the girl I was a few years ago, I just want to hug her. I was drinking alcohol every day and smoking crack cocaine and heroin.

Despite the fact their problems started with alcohol, cannabis is to blame for them also abusing cocaine and heroin?

How does this follow?

Cannabis didn't turn her into a thieving heroin addict, stealing and becoming addicted to heroin did. Don't blame a drug for your own morale shortcomings.

“I found out the line was probably laced with dangerous crystal meth.”

haha. Cocaine will kill you well before meth will.

The fact that she says she started with alcohol yet blames the marijuana is insane. She is just a stupid weak minded child that can't take responcibility for her own poor choices. The reason most cocaine, heroin, meth, ect addicts started with weed is because it is allot more popular and safer.

Funny I started Smoking about 3 Years ago, and haven't had a joint in about 6 months. And haven't done any other illicit drug in that time, only Legals ;)

I assume we should also ban alcohol seeing how it destroys the lives of over 120 million people.

I honestly thought she was a troll at first ....

Being a heroin addict I can honesty say that weed didn't jump start my heroin addiction. My love of getting fucking high and having a connection started my heroin addiction.

I would try and argue that oxycodone brought me to it, but if I could have found h first I would have skipped right past the Roxi's.

"On one occasion she collapsed in a public toilet after snorting a line of what she thought was cocaine." and “I found out the line was probably laced with dangerous crystal meth.”
more likely the cause of her collapsing was lack of food/malnutrition “I was eating like a sparrow and surviving on six cans of Red Bull a day."
I'm no expert but im pretty sure your body needs slightly more than 6 cans of redbull to survive, its a sad story especially for the mother but with proper education this could of been so easily avoided

It may have started out with cannabis, alcohol eventually, cocaine. Then accidently she got ahold of some heroin.
Ended up on holiday in Australia a junkie. Blame the weed of course. That's the Sun for ya

Hrmmm.

The funny part is that she became addicted to cocaine in Sydney of all places! Now I always had a good connect there but unless you had serious money coke is impossible to become addicted to in Sydney.

As always the Sun is reporting the "facts".

Articles like this piss me off so much. I'm not going to put any of my thoughts into this comment right now.

This article is a despicable peace of propaganda that reeks of horse shit.

I don't even know what else to say that hasn't been mentioned.

Of course alcohol, being her first abused substance, doesn't count since its legal. Even though it destroys so smany more lives than cannabis that it can't even be compared.

Don't really care what this lying, delusional moron has to say about her own drug use and lifestyle... it bothers me though that the media is cherry picking a story for yet more anti-cannabis propaganda. How fucking hard is it to look at some scientific research? You know, like journalists used to do before they became salivating, sensationalist scumbags?
