A teenage girl is lucky to be alive after taking a cocktail of alcohol and legal highs in a field. The 16-year-old was rushed to Colchester General Hospital after being discovered with three others on the Marks Hall estate near Coggeshall. Members of the public first called for an ambulance after spotting a boy believed to be unconscious at about 3am yesterday. Four teenagers needed help and one who was having a seizure. The girl is now in a stable condition in hospital after medical help got there in time.

Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “This incident could have quite easily turned into a tragedy as the youths were in the middle of a field and could have easily not been found until daylight. “One of the youths was suffering from a seizure and required hospitalisation.

“I would urge anyone who is underage to think twice about purchasing or consuming alcohol and especially experimenting in remote areas where the danger to themselves is too high.”

Interesting statement at the end of the article. The alcohol is actually being highlighted as the main concern rather than the legal high. For a ***** change! :)

I don't know about the Canadian press, but pretty much everything put out in this country from small town dailies to the new york times is barely newsworthy at this point.

the region is called Braintree. Is it any wonder that CNS issues present themselves there???

I bet cirrhosis is also prevalent in Liverpool.

i am the girl this article is about. i overdosed on meth.. it is an illegal drug. it just shows how the press twists things. i was with 5 other people and noone else was hurt or unconscious... i was the only one that had an issue. there was no alcohol at all apart from vodka shots. it pisses me off how the press can twist things and i have no idea why you decided to publish this in the papers. if you had included my name in this i would of taken you to court. i am 17 now alot more mature, i dont do drugs anymore and it would be much appreciated if you deleted this article as its quite embarassing. thanks. from jade :)

This website doesn't publish the articles, we just discuss them. You'll have to contact the website linked to in the first post.

Hi Jade. I'm sorry you were misrepresented. Tentatively, I'll say that little would be accomplished if we deleted this thread, because the original Braintree & Witham Times piece would still exist. But please consider that most people on Bluelight are on your side. We recognize that the media unnecessarily promotes harm by speaking clumsily about recreational drug use, and one of the reasons this forum exists is to expose that and, hopefully, minimize the harm their inaccuracies cause.

Write back to me if you're still not OK with this.
