A few years ago, a doctor started prescribing Michael Israel painkillers for bad cramps in his gut. Israel had been struggling with Crohn's disease, a chronic digestive disorder, since he was a teenager.

"So he was prescribed, you know, Lortab, or Vicodin or whatever. You know, they would flip-flop it from one to another," says Avi Israel, Michael's father.

Then one day, Michael confessed that something was wrong.

"Michael came over to my bedroom one night and said, 'Pops, I have a problem with the pills,' " says Israel.

Michael admitted that he was taking more pills than he was supposed to. He was even crushing and snorting them. He was addicted. That started a long, hard fight to try to break his addiction. But nothing worked. He started losing hope. And then one day, something terrible happened.

Interesting graph. Guess methadone really is a lot nastier than heroin maintenance...
For every 100kg of fentanyl sold there are only 2 deaths. Kind of hard to believe.

The bars should really be proportional to the lowest dose sold, or something to that effect. A kilo of fentanyl is way more doses than a kilo of morphine.

I had a bad reaction to methadone once. I got 5 mg's from a guy who told me to mix it with 5 mg percocet, and, I did both on their own never got a bad reaction. but mixed, I got dizzy as fuck, shallow breathing, sweating etc. Felt like I was gonna die...

My thoughts exactly. fentanyl doses are measured in mCg's, not mg's. Ironically though, fentanyl didn't give me any adverse reactions mixed with hydrocodone, even hydrocodone in larger dosages. i was so pissed my girl threw out my fentanyl i got after my surgery one day when she was cleaning, lol. fentanyl <3

but they should adjust the graph to the dosages of the substances. the way it is, it's very skewed.
