U.S. Officials Should Be Tried in Mexico

In my mind, the illegal immigrants who everyone gets their panties in a bunch over are refugees, and their situation should be treated as such.

The US will not summarily grant asylum to all Mexican refugees because Mexico is too populous. The capital alone has twice as many people as all of Cuba (regardless of what Wikipedia says, there are more than 20 million people in Mexico City).

I agree that they are political refugees though. At least during the present hostilities. The cartels wield a significant amount of power in the country, so anyone fleeing the cartels is, essentially, a political refugee. I feel the same way about Guatemala and Honduras.

I think the US has more human rights violations then Mexico by far. I know a guy who did prison time in the US and Mexico, he said the US prison was worse.

That is most likely b/c in certain mexican jails they are filled with drugs and a lot more freely available then prisons in the US. "Drugs" in USA prisons include like chewing tobacco and that nasty BS alcohol they make in trash bags. Despite what many people think, I believe (as i've never been to prison), that many US prisons have almost zero drugs in them and if they do they are just the odd person that gets their g/f to bring them in a few pills or some nonsense like that.. Plus the USA is probably the only country in the world that allows for "for profit" prisons.. WTF?!?! FOR FUCKING PROFIT PRISONS?! lol like seriously, doing this will only make more things that should be legal, illegal!!! like wtf. i don't think any of you realize the world that you live in, i have knowledge despite what you may think...

Depending on the prison, inmates can get cigarettes, lots of prescription pills (prisoners are very regularly medicated by the prison- xanax, seroquil, and other sedatives and anti-psychotics), and sometimes even heroin, coke, meth and some other drugs. It just depends on the prison. For profit prisons are fucking evil, it's ridiculous that such a thing is allowed here.

I should edit my original statement a bit, I think the US prison system in general has more human rights violations then the Mexican one. I think the conditions in most Mexican prisons are worse then in most American prisons. But this depends, I know a few people who did sentences in US prisons far disproportionate to their crimes, and for most of them life there was spent mostly in solitary, and when they weren't in solitary they were having to deal with violent and crazy prison politics all the time. But it totally depends on the prison, Texas and California state prisons are some of the worst in the country. I only know one person who was in prison in Mexico, but he didn't have to do a huge amount of time, so his penalty was more fair, and he said it wasn't as bad as the US prisons. Might've been the drugs though, as you said.
