MEXICO CITY - One U.S. law enforcement agent was killed and another wounded in a roadside attack in northern Mexico on Tuesday, marking a lethal escalation in the ongoing drug fight here, officials said.

Two agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement were traveling in a dark-colored SUV on the highway between Monterrey and the Mexican capital when they were fired upon.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said the agents were "shot in the line of duty." One agent was critically wounded and died from his injuries. The second agent was shot in the arm and leg and remains in stable condition.

"Let me be clear: Any act of violence against our ICE personnel . . . is an attack against all those who serve our nation and put their lives at risk for our safety," Napolitano said.

i feel no compassion for these agents. they knew the terrain, they knew the rules, and now theyre done. if they didnt feel that pursuing drug traffickers was an honorable profession, maybe their career choices needed some reevaluation.

am i supposed to feel sorry when their are tens of thousands of other deaths that could have been prevented by now? cus i dont.

Most likely.

That or they just hire gunman to look for blacked-out Chevrolet Suburbans with antennas on them and white guys driving them, as they are most likely U.S. agents. The cartels don't seem to care about the bodycount anymore, so why not just shoot everybody who could be a narcotics officer?

Whatever. That's 2 more people out of over 30,000 in the past few years. Mexico is literally a warzone because of those assholes (as well as extreme poverty and other assholes too).

I feel bad for the agents that were injured and killed and I feel sick that people here would say 'good' to someone getting killed. I hate the war in Afghanistan, I don't say good when soldiers die.

Hate the War on Drugs, not the people employed by it.

if u pursue people because they use drugs then your a massive asshole, but that doesnt mean you deserve to die. I hope this doesnt escalate into the US sending theyre army and killing the "terrorists" :|

Hola DEA

brilliant reference.

how many more DEA agents are going to die before drugs are legalized, medicalized, with an end to prohibition?

we have a criminal congress, a criminal president, and a criminal legislative system. they are not concerned with either progress/development or elimination of suffering... they protect moneyed interests, and DEA agents and other people are the collateral damage.

they deserve an egypt-style uprising, but we'd be watching that uprise fail on the TV... because we'd all be at the TV...

I don't really feel any sympathy for the agents. Its hard to feel bad for these agents when you know they dont feel bad for ruining thousands of lifes by enforcing injust drug policies.

These guys got caught slipping...too bad one had to die but hey that's the line of work they chose. They might as well sue the dea for causing this pointless war, since you know the dea put them there.

Holy shit, TV or no TV, thats some fucked up shit 8o
I'm sure the cartels have utilized plenty of similar scare-tactics.

Anyways, my apologies to the family and all that, but oh well. Shit happens, and its probably better if it happens to DEA agents. Plus its largely their fault that this drug-war is even in existence.

So, to the US agent killed - Was it worth it? I mean fuck... Was it seriously worth being killed over this bullshit? Hope your wife and kids are happy that their husband/father died a 'hero' fighting a 'war on drugs'.

i'd only say it's "worth it" if the politicians who voted for prohibition themselves are the ones dying ;)

Cuz half of the officers are on the cartels' payrolls anyway :p

Ya, you're absolutely right about that. These guys were probably just good cops doing their job by the book. Cartels hate that shit, thats why they kill them. The leave the ones that work for them, alone :(

This is most likely just going to become an excuse to hire more crooked border agents, that work for whoever pays them the most.
