Was prescribed Xanax for panic attacks. But I was careful to not take it every day. Maybe 3mg for panic attacks or a bad day, maybe twice a week or not at all. Cause I know they can be addicting.

Well anyway I have had severe anxiety and problems the past 2 weeks and took 3mg a lot of days the first week.

This week I've had 2.5 and lowered it to 1.5 today. Had a particularly bad attack and took 3 yesterday. Is this enough time to get withdrawal? Should I continue taking it everyday and taper or just stop? Skip a day and take 1 every other day for a while and lower it? I have clonazapan if anyone has ever used that. Anyone had a similar experience?

Hi poster - two weeks at that dose will not put your into withdrawal. The problem is your using it for anxiety, just stopping alone could be enough to start you make your anxiety start again making you feel like you have to take it again.

Only you know how you will react but physically you do not need to taper or use anything to bridge the gap etc.

Hope that helps

^^ What he said. I feel benzodiazepines have a beneficial use in the treatment of anxiety. However, as a side note, I would be concerned of the dosages needed to curb your panic attacks. Now, If that's what you need, that's what you need. That's understandable. Down the road that might (subjective) be a issue. Bottom line, make sure you use what you need and look for other ways to bolster your treatment. Speed King

It's hard to tell, it's different for everyone.. but it's highly unlikely that 2 weeks will cause dependence. You don't have much to worry about. I have a problem w/ reaching for a k-pin every time I feel anxious or anything like that... I recommend trying to not do this, learn to deal without the pills.. good luck, benzo addiction, at least mentally, can happen quite quickly...

As everyone mentioned, we're all different when it comes to withdrawals. I'd used benzos in small recreational doses with long breaks for 3 - 4 years with no addiction at all. I went through a rough divorce and used 15mg of xanax along with a decent amount of alcohol in a six day period and went through some minor withdrawals. I sustained from benzos and alcohol for two whole months, drank about a case of beer one weekend and was right back into withdrawals again. I hadn't used any benzo six months prior this occasion and it's now been seven months since withdrawals stopped and I'm feeling a lot better but scared to death to take a benzo or drink again.

You shouldn't have any withdrawal symptoms, but then again I used less than you in a shorter amount of time and it happened to me. I'd say try to go cold turkey, if that doesn't work try a rapid taper.
