Two reasons I'm not a Christian

A Jehovah's Witness came to the door yesterday with a bunch of Watchtower magazines. He offered one to me and I refused, telling him that his religion is totally incompatible with my lifestyle.

Deuteronomy 22:5 - "A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman's garment; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God."

This seems to refer to crossdressing, but I also think it applies to transsexuals such as myself. Why the hell would I worship, much less respect, a god that considers me an abomination? Then there's the whole "your body is a temple" thing, which I'm sure I've broken numerous times with my tattoos, my self harming, and of course my drug addictions.

I Corinthians 5:19 - "If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you yourselves are his temple."

Bring it on, God! Bullies don't scare me. And anyway, my body's more like a drug house than a temple. ;)

While I have my own reasons,I am not a Christian either :)
Christianity seems like a good story. ;)
I just can't understand how it could fool so many people.

^ I've noticed that Christianity is like a buffet to most Christians - they pick the bits of scripture they like, and leave the rest. I don't have a problem with Christians in general, as long as they don't shove their beliefs down my throat, or follow stupid bigoted passages like the ones I posted above.

/shudder

The bible really is a horrible, disgusting book if you read the whole thing. Sure, you can pick and choose the smiley, happy, fluffy bunny bits, but you could also pick and choose the child-raping, child-killing, genocidal, misogynistic, etc... parts. Thing is, it's all in there, and it is all just as valid as the next part.

My theory is that there would be a LOT fewer christians if they all had to sit down and actually read the bible from front to back. Only then would they be allowed to call themselves christian.

Thank you Christianity! Thanks to you, and all the wars you've started, we have a lot less people on the earth now!

When I hear of things like Jehovah's Witnesses, or the Bible, I think of how God abandoned America (or there really never was a god; he surely wouldn't support this god awful country, that being the USA).

I didn't know those whacko JW's lived in NZ.

^ Oh yes, the JW's exist in New Zealand. There aren't many of them, but every so often they'll come door knocking with their Watchtower magazines (a waste of trees, if you ask me!). The Mormons are more common, and I must admit, more of a pain. Most of them get shipped out to New Zealand from the States to visit each household and spread the Good News. 8)

I remember a friend telling me about a visit he had from two young mormons (dressed neatly in their suits and ties), and he asked them to leave his property. They then politely asked if there was anything they could do to help him - which was a BIG mistake, cos he then told them they could help by washing his dishes and vacuuming his carpet! :D
