mythology: probably talitha cumi or herronvolk. i really love the entire jeremiah smith arc, and thought it was done as perfectly as it could have been. tunguska and terma (the ones with krycek and mulder in russia) were also amazing episodes - probably the best action sequences the show has seen too.
non-mythology: i liked triangle too, like someone above said, but also clyde bruckman's final repose. there's actually plenty of others i could name (and it changes every day, like my favourite song
), but these are what i'm currently liking. i just love the show so much that i could probably watch it non-stop and be happy anyway

Wait was it 30 years? You know, they were searching for the killer and found a picture of him dating back to the 1930s or something.

I miss the X-files. 
So many good ones, can't remember all of them, but gonna list a couple I got in my head right now. Episode about the chupacabra or whatever, the one where this guy gets struck by lightning and has weird powers all of a sudden, the one where mulder and scully get trapped inside a giant mushroom/mountain, mulder and kraijcek trapped in russian mining camp where they have to dig up the black ooze or something and all of the episodes where mulder encounters aliens are great..

I just bought the first 6 seasons on DVD so after watching them again (it's been years) I've got plenty of new favourites...
Namely - Humbug, Jose Chung's, War of the coprophages (The cockroach one - funny stuff) and Home is just completely fucking sick
. That episode still disturbs me with like seven or eight years of aging done since I last saw it...

I'm not a very big X files fan but:
There was this one with this murder at a hospital who was a satanist. He killed the people some strange way and then his house had all of these pentagrams and stuff subtly hidden. for some reason i liked it.

Haven't been a true X-phile in a while...but I had my day.
I miss the older episodes of the X-Files...after Mulder left and Doggett took over my interest took a nosedive.
Favorite episodes:
Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose
--Because I've always been interested in the possibility of fate. Besides, it was probably the scariest episode I saw.
Jose Chung's From Outer Space
--For those not in the know, this was the hilarious episode that really made no sense at all.
The Unnatural
--(About the black baseball player) This was just a great, warm-hearted episode, even if it was something of a stretch for the series.
Musings of a Cigarette-Smoking Man
--I could so identify with the main character as an embittered, unpublished writer.
And of course, I loved the episode about the underground, hallucinogenic fungus, even if it was a little close in time to "The Matrix" and "Existenz".

This was also my favorite episode. Cancer Man turned out to be one of the best characters on the show, and that episode fleshed him out in such a beautiful way.
