'80s TV : Tour of Duty

Zeke? Baker? Ruez? Surely someone here remembers that bad ass tv show called Tour of Duty? It takes place in Vietnam during the war. It didn't last all that long, but the first season is AWESOME. I reciently picked up the whole first season on DVD and it's just as good as it was back in the day.

Definitely one of my all time favorite shows. Anyone have anything to say about it?

Even if you haven't seen it, go buy the first season!
 
used to love this, i remember thay had rolling stones " paint it black" as a theme, obviously picked up from full metal jacket i found out later , great show =D
 
Good to know there is ONE person that digs this show as much as I do. You guys are really missing out I tell ya.

I've never seen Full Metal Jacket, so I had no clue Paint It Black was ripped off that.
 
I remember there was this show and China Beach (the other Vietnam show). Tour of Duty was always more entertaining. :D
 
I used to love watching this show as a kid.

It reappeared at about 11pm on some weeknight back here in Australia in the first part of the year. Still awesome stuff.

Anyone here recall the shortly lived remake? ;)
 
My Dad was in Vietnam so we watched this show every week together when I was younger. I liked it for all the guns and explosions and he liked it so he could point out all the inaccuracies.

The first season was great. Then it seemed to really loose steam, focusing on love interests and lots of fake drama, rather than the realities of war.

All and all a great show though and where I fell in love with “Paint It Black.”
 
I loved this series... so much, i own all of the tour of duty soundtrack albums...some on vinyl some on CD. :)

I also loved China Beach
 
i used to watch this with my dad when i was younger, loved the theme music... we used to try and spot which people would be killed that episode, was a fun game to play! :D
 
My family used to watch it regularly when I was younger :) It was a great series!
