so, has anyone seen this new show?

the premise: paramedic who can hear people's thoughts tries to solve crimes by using his power to assist a sexy police detective with the aid of his best friend paramedic sidekick.

it's all filmed in toronto so i HAD to watch because i completely missed out on the flashpoint phenomenon but tbh i was fairly disappointed. there was just so much more they could have done, but instead of putting any focus into character development the whole first season was driven by these inane episodic crime-fighting plots.

then whenever there actually is an episode where the characters have issues of their own, the issues are either glossed entirely over or the conflict resolves itself in the same episode alongside the resolution of the latest criminal caper. another problem is that it's like all the other characters are these cardboard cutouts whose roles only serve making the protagonist shine. the acting is good enough to make me believe these other characters have some depth, but the writing is too involved in trying to develop the protagonist's character, alongside the crime story in every episode, to allow us to see inside the lives of any of the other characters.

the mind-reading gimmick is applied fairly well, have to give credit for that one, and the writing could definitely evolve into a serious show by second season, but since it's likely U.S. audiences will quickly tire of this, the networks will probably tank this show before it even gets a shot to redeem itself. imho, this show doesn't even deserve another chance given how many opportunities for redemption it passed over in the first season

Yes, I have heard about this show. I always miss it. I believe it comes on the Space Channel.
