on the science channel, les stroud has become the survivorman.

from their site:

Airing on “The Science Channel” in the U.S., and “The Outdoor Life Network” in Canada, each episode finds “Survivorman” Les Stroud abandoned in a remote location. He carries little more than the clothes on his back – and his cameras. Les not only needs to survive for a week without supplies, but he has to film everything himself, lugging over fifty pounds of camera gear the entire time. The Costa Rican rainforest, Arctic ice-flows, Georgian swamp and the high Sonora desert include a few locales where Les has overcome seemingly impossible obstacles.

i just dvred this show the other day and watched it just five minutes ago. he spent about 5 days adrift at sea in only a life raft before he finally washed up on an island. he had to weather a tropical storm while on the water also. it was kind of slow, at times (as you can imagine being stranded at sea would be), but still really interesting!

Yes, he is a pretty cool dude. It sucks though, there haven't been any new episodes for a good six months at least. I keep thinking at some point there has to be a new season, unless all he did was re-do all of the OLN episodes on TLC and then stopped.

The Georgian swamp was one was the weakest, maybe bc I sort of live in that region and it wasn't anything new to me. My favorite episode was the Arctic one, he is shirtless and eating seal blubber. That's hardcore!

Another good show is I Shouldn't Be Alive!, also on TLC I believe.
