Thought they did a really good job exposing PETA.. the animal group, they made alot of convincing points in a playful and entertaining way. I look forward to watching this show again, definatley. Also I like the fact that it was uncensored, they can say whatever they want, and they do, I reccomend everyone check it out. Anyone else catch it?

everyone has their own interests and spin on animal rights issues
i wouldnt take penn and tellers side and not exactly peta's either... it is propaganda either way

^^^^
whatever :\

Hey incident what station is this show on? From how u tell it.....seems
pretty interesting however this is the first I here of it & not to mention those 2 guys are always very funny.

Giovi, its on Showtime (cable/sattelite). Its on Thursday nights with a replay on fridays i think. I find it interesting. However, as pointed out above, every show has its own angle. They do come up with some interesting arguments however.

sigh.
its called spin

Penn and Teller’s show about PETA which, appropriately aired on April Fools Day, certainly lived up to its name: Bullshit.

Although these illusionists are notorious for their animosity for animals, even we were surprised by the crude ways they twisted the truth beyond recognition in order to discourage people from supporting PETA’s efforts to stop cruelty to animals. We have received wonderful messages of support since the show.

Reveling in callousness, the magicians pointedly wore leather and fur on their show, atea rib roast in front of a live bull, and even lamented that they weren't allowed to slaughter a chicken on the air. Their special guest was Ted Nugent, who has chortled while replaying tapes of pigs being shot just to hear them scream again.

Another guest was from the Center for Consumer Freedom, a front group for industries that profit from animal exploitation, such as Outback Steakhouse, Philip Morris (nicotine experiments on animals), cattle ranchers, and logging businesses. In addition to PETA, this group targets National Public Radio, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and anyone who warns of the health dangers of smoking and drinking. To learn more about this nasty little group of frat boys and corrupt profiteers, go to http://www.consumerdeception.com.

Penn and Teller’s statements about PETA’s budget were, of course, wrong and deliberately so. They omitted figures on the thousands of animals PETA has saved, spayed and neutered, and the remarkable and often heart wrenching work that our dedicated staff does every day to help animals. As one example, our SNIP (Spay and Neuter Immediately, Please) program has sterilized more than 15,000 local dogs and cats, performing the operations for low or no cost. Our Community Animal Project (CAP) program spays and neuters an additional 500 dogs and cats per year in Franklin County, Virginia and North Carolina. To help dogs left outdoors on chains in extreme weather, each year we’ve gone into rural North Carolina and impoverished areas in Virginia and delivered, free, 300-350 sturdy custom-built doghouses.

Although PETA has no shelter facility and most of the animals PETA rescues are in very bad shape—often their delicate bodies ruined by disease or injuries—our euthanasia percentages are the same as the average for shelters statewide. We urge anyone who is concerned about this issue to join us in our campaign to promote spaying and neutering.

PETA works through peaceful, if sometimes gimmicky means. We strictly maintain a creed of nonviolence, and do not advocate actions in which anyone, human or non-human, is injured. Shame on these cheap comics (if you can call shouting and posturing comic) for their cut and paste job, promoting their own animal-hating agenda.

We hope you will learn more about our vital efforts by visiting: http://www.peta.org/about/victories.asp. You might also be interested in this op-ed that ran in the Fort Worth Weekly:

so wheres the truth? some where inbetween id bet

How is spay and neutering animals "non-violent" and helping them? I know that as an animal of the earth, I most certainly would not want to be castrated, or go through any other surgical procedure to prevent me from reproducing. Reproduction, after all, is the only prupose of any animals on this earth.

if strays are not spayed/neutered there will be such an over population without homes, food and so on
so really it is the lesser of evils to keep animals under control where the ones that are born are well taken care of, fed and all things good

PETA is retarded. it's just a bunch of nazis who want to force everyone to think their way at any cost.. even harassing children at school isn't out of the question for them.

anyone who is interested in animals would be better served by going to another place that is more concerned with ANIMALS rather than making a name for themselves and turning the rest of the world against their cause. face it, the rest of the world isn't going to stop eating meat. stop pissing and moaning about it and get involved in decreasing the cruelty in slaughterhouses. write to your MP/congressman and tell them you want stricter controls. but god damn don't give these PETA morons another cent!

ok enough

this is the f&t forum not t&a or second opinion. this thread was to discuss penn and teller's bullshit, the show not peta.
it doesnt matter what side of peta you are on for this. the show is more than peta. i posted peta's responce to show that there is almost always a spin in entertainmemt particually a show like this one.
take the discussion of peta's right and wrongs elsewhere.
i kept this open because i was waiting new comments on the show and there are none so closed.
feel free to start another thread on the show if it will be on topic.
