scare tactics (like candid camera but VERY morbid)

i did a search and came up with nothing, so i figured i'd educate the masses :)

has anyone seen this show yet? it's on the sci-fi channel. basically it's like candid camera, but in a very morbid way. they play practical jokes on people but the jokes on this show consists of murder, death, fights, and other crazy stuff that would TOTALLY fuck with your head. they get their victims (of the joke not the crimes) really freaked out and play it off like they're right in the middle of the malay. just when the person is nearly in tears... they ask "ARE YOU SCARED!?!?" and they usually respond with an affirmative "YES!!!" to which the actors reply "WELL... YOU SHOULDNT BE!!!! youre on scare tactics!!! :)"

great great show... it's amazing to see how these people react because to them... this is all completely real. imagine seeing your best friend get murdered right in front of you. THAT'S INTENSE! :)

so any opinions on this show?

I've seen it quite a few times..since it's been on pretty much.
I have to admit, some of the things they do are funny.
Some of them though, are just plain MEAN. I would never do that to someone.
And let me tell you, if anyone ever did that shit to me, they would have me on tape beating someone to a bloody pulp.
:\

I just think its hysterical that Shannen Dorhtey is the host. I saw one where the guy brought murder pictures to get developed-I almost pissed my pants!

Anyone ever watch the Truman Show.. or Ed TV...

They both convey my feelings about reality tv.. including candid camera bullshit, real world, road rules, fear factor, Temptation Island, Survivor, and the rest.. utter fucken crap that exploits the human psyche and emotions.

^^^
Sure, it exploits human emotions and the psyche and what not. But so what? There's a sadistic side in most people which is the reason people watch Survivor and the like. We like watching other people going through horrible situations, as long as its not us. Survivor, Scare Tactics, Fear Factor - all sadistic programs that the public loves.

And now onto the topic at hand. Scare Tactics is SOOOO FUNNY, granted not ALL of the skits/setups (whatever you wanna call them) but there's some insanely awesome ones. Like the one where they higher this Korean guy who speaks no English whatsoever to move some coffins and do some cemetary work. He thinks its a legit job. He's all alone outside in a graveyard at night moving "empty" coffins and such and he hears sounds coming from inside. After a couple minutes of him being scared shitless looking at this coffin making noise a guy looking like a zombie pops out and chases him. The Korean guy is so scared he actually throws kicks at the zombie guy its SOOOO DAMN FUNNY.

Good show ;)

Sounds fantastic! I love this kind of shit - most of my favorite Jackass skits involve scaring the living crap out of people in inappropriate ways =D

Ever see the one where they dress up in Hazmat suits and take a cannister of something inert out the back of their van to ask locals in some suburb for directions to a nuclear plant? Then they DROP the fucking thing in mid conversation and it blows - starts spinning violently and visible gas shooting out of it in streams - the whole street took off running for the hills - LOL!

i've seen this show a couple of times. some of the things they do are really funny. others are just fucked up and i feel bad for the people that are on the show. there were a couple of segments that i thought they let the joke go too long before letting the person know it was fake.

either way, there are some people i'd love to put on scare tactics;)

scare tactics is the best show ever! especially to watch when stoned... some of the things they pull are a bit below the belt though. i've seen some very crazy stuff... it's great when you get really good ones... some of them are a little unsatisfying. unfortuantly it's only on one night a week now...

I don't think it'll last. Sooner or later someone is gonna have a heart attack and the lawsuits will just fly. They had same kind of "show" on the radio a while back (don't remember which station or the name) anyhow, to make the story short, they played a practical "joke" of this sort on some big shot lawyer's wife. Needless to say , the show got pulled off the air and the station got sued into millions in damages, declared bankrupcy and that was the end.

^^
I agree. It's just a matter of time before something really bad happens. I think that more likely than a heart attack, someone carrying a concealed weapon is gonna react badly, cuz you can tell these people really think their life is in danger at times. I wonder how they try to prepare for something like that.

Scare tatics is a top show but personally i think jamie kennedy experiment is alot more funny.

Speaking of being sued they had a lady sue before it went to air. She was in an alien attack scene and sued for psycological damages. The scene never went to air.

Also a new episode of punk'd ran into some trouble this week.

A prank from the MTV show "Punk’d" has reportedly gone wrong when host Ashton Kutcher and crew attempted to trick Black Eyed Peas into a fake arrest....

According to published reports, the BEP entourage began fighting with the shows fake cops after the attempted apprehension within a sex brothel.

Neither Kutcher nor show producers anticipated that the fun-loving group would actually physically fight the “officers” during the practical joke.

Will.I.Am, lead rapper in the group, was party to the joke and when "officers" tried to arrest him, the star a BEP entourage member struck the "police" in the face. The show crew immediately stopped the prank and explained they were taping a hidden camera show, a notion that wasn’t well received.

No charges were pressed. Show producers haven’t revealed whether or not the incident will be aired.

Some of those episodes go way beyond what I thought would be legal, some people look ready to have a heart attack or use lethal force to get out of there, but I fucking love it! It's low-budget and cheesy, but for some reason they have the best damn reactions on TV. Probably because they don't seem to have hired any lawyers or legal advisors ;)

The last couple of episodes I saw had people freaking out somewhat after it was all over, i.e. not taking it terribly well. No one takes it worse, though, than those guys who thought they were there to set someone else up. I especially liked seeing that macho mysoginist asshole who thought someone got shot, and the idiot with the grin who thought he killed the barber.

I just thought I'd bump this to inform you that Scare Tactics returns!

Tonight, channel 9, 11pm. (Melbourne)

I'm pretty sure it's only repeats though.

But still, I can't wait! =D
