watched the first episode last night. what a disappointment. the writing was terrible and paul giamatti - who i generally love - was badly cast here i think.

visually it's really impressive but, with such epic themes, characters and history at play here, it fell completely flat for me.

anybody else see it?

I actually did not get the opportunity to watch. I've been looking forward to it for quite some time now, and now that it's airing I don't have time to watch it. I'm a huge fan of Paul Giamatti, though, and I plan to watch it ASAP. Thank God for OnDemand...
 
i watched the second episode just now and, for me, it was better. that said, it's the monumental nature of the subject which is carrying it alone - not the writing, acting, direction or anything else...
