I've got to admit, Jerry Springer is a guilty pleasure of mine. Except I like the old episodes, which were much more violent. For some reason, I never had any moral problems with the show. Most of the people who go on it have made up the stories just so they can be on TV, I'm sure.

For some people who don't stand a chance in hell of ever being "somebody", I think they have every right, if they wish, to sell their dignity to be on national TV. For most of them, it's probably the most interesting thing that will ever happen to them.

Jerry himself is a first class asshole, but then again, he's shameless. No real entertainers take him seriously anyway.
 
springer is the least likely of all daytime talkshows for me to be watching
from what i have seen in passing lately its been more focused on the stupid jerry beads then the drama
or perhaps thats all ive caught of it

the people on it make me cringe
the trashiness and potential exploitation of guests turns me off
 
i think if it was on dvd and not edited, it may have comedic value. the older episodes were alright. the newer shit is...shit.
 
jerry springer once said that even he wouldn't watch his show. he's just going to work, making a lot of money, and laughing all the way. i give him credit though. he's really built up quite a large following.
 
i despise maury. at least jerry is sarcastic all the time. he never acts like he's genuine. maury tries to be all sympathetic and caring when you know he doesn't care about his guests or their lives. here's the breakdown of his shows:

95% are paternity tests. many of which maury and his produces go on a 'quest' to find the father of children, testing a dozen men to find out who the father is, thus making the women look terrible

3% deformed children who get prizes and vacations from maury for allowing his audience to gawk at them

1% fashion show in which the audience tries to figure out which contestants are male and which are female

1% jack hanna's animals. i actually like these episodes, especially when the animals poop on maury.
 
Yep, I love the paternity testing.

I don't like Maury himself, just the show ;) As if he really cares about all the families

uh, and btw yeah the women look terrible on their own without much assistance, they agree to going on, and they obviously didnt mind screwing a dozen men...

I have to admit some of his shows are very amusing to me. I love the bootcamp guys that come in, and the kids are reformed in a day - never to do bad again. How naive. Also how can you give troubled kids a free trip to New York City and think its going to HELP them. The 12 yr old sluts are probably banging the limo drivers that are hired to chauffer them around.
 
I was eating lunch one day at school, and all of a sudden I look to the left of me and there is Jerry Springer. Just out of nowhere. I guess he was there doing a speech at my college...

I think he's dirty. And no I didn't get an autograph... :p
 
How come all the kids are scared of the boot camp guys? Its just some meathead yelling at you, its not like hes allowed to hit you or anything. Yet all the kids are shitting their pants over it. I would have just laughed in the dude's face.

On a different note, I think I remember one episode where some guy liked to get vomited on by women. They actually showed him covered in vomit and smearing it on himself in ecstacy. It was so gross that I laughed.

Some people say its real, others say its fake. All I know is its hilarious to watch!!! Im watchin it right now, and there is this chick with no arms tryin to beat up her boyfriend and some other chick. Anyone els find lots of amusement outta this show??

Just got back to the US this year. The job I work at has Jerry on most weekdays on the tube. I must say this is probably the thing I'm most ashamed to be a fan of.

Here's something to put in your pipe and smoke. If somebody you knew pretty well or in your family formally invited you on an all-expense-paid trip to be on Jerry Springer with him/her, and you could not speculate as to why to save your life, would you accept?
